Eight Burgundies at a Confrerie wine tasting at the French Embassy (Wellington, New Zealand): Colour deep red but a little cloudy (unfiltered?). A high toned bouquet of berries, from blackberries through to blueberries, dark flowers (violets) and some spice and soil. No obvious green notes but some dried herb aromas. On the palate, good fruit weight, concentration and power. Oak and tannins well integrated. Good acids and intensity. Flavours of black and blue fruits. Also, from the beginning, a herbal element to the flavour profile, that was initially not too off-putting. I had this wine at 94 but over the next half hour that 2004 character intensified. Not full on green but enough for me to mark down this otherwise good quality Grand Cru to 92.

Wonderful nose of strawberries, blue fruit and flowers. Light, yet sophisticated on the palate. Red and blue fruit. The 2004 green streak is there but in a good way. Medium+ spicey finish.

Not much taste. Colour is wrong. One cork OK, the other super soft and soaked 60% through.

Something wrong. Miscolored, no real taste, "dead"

Ugly colour - no taste... Cork seems too soft

Very disappointing. Unclear and muddy colour. Taste OK but no depth, no freshness.

Cork had let wine seep through...

Taste was good without being fantastic. Wine was miscolored because cork had been soaked.

Two more excellent bottles of this wine. Outstanding fruit, balance and spice. Strikes me as 1er Leroy Rousseau combo.
