Initially, the nose was dominated by eucalyptus that really jumped out of the glass. As it opened up over the next 2-3 hours, it became more balanced with stewed fruit and leather. On the palate, more balanced, juicy, medium-bodied with a present acidity. Tannins are integrated so this wine is ready to drink. Good finish. Overall, the nose is a bit unbalanced, the palate is fine and the finish is good without being great. Certainly ready and enjoyable but not the greatest La Nerthe at this point.

Balanced and lovely. We were at the winery this year and it was just after the family sold the winery I believe. It has never (in MHO) produced as good a wine as preceding vintages post the sale. Alas. Still this vintage is a lovely wine!

A rather disappointing CdP. Tart cherries from pop to +5 hours. Not much improvement. Have read nice things about La Nerthe but will pass on this in the future. Drink and cheers.

First coravin sample from this bottle. Nice rather dark ruby colour with no bricking. On the nose upon opening, aromas of plums, redcurrant, tea, herbs and a touch of tar. On the palate, the attack is frank with an attack of the fruit found on the nose, tannin and a peak of sharp acidity - a slightly brutal attack for a 7 year old La Nerthe, but then I should have let it breath longer (or prepared my palate). The wine is savoury and sinewy and appears to be still quite young. I agree with the maturity window of 2018-2024. Good today, but I would probably have kept this another 2-3 years in the cellar. My only 2012, I won't get to see this evolve, but I may keep my 2015 longer. Though it wasn't built to last, I preferred the more demure 2013. This 2012 is a solid 90 leaning towards 91.

Been sitting on this case for a while - first bottle from it. Three hours of air in a decanter. Rich classic CndP aroma and very savoury on the palate. Bags of meaty tasting fruit. Slight hint of barnyard in the background. For me this is in it's drinking window right now. I have some Telegraphe of the same vintage and I don't feel 2012 is a year for long ageing - certainly for these two anyway. Drink over the next 2/3 years for maximum benefit.

Oogstjaar 1998 en nog steeds jeugdig! In de neus lekker oud roestig, kers, braam. In de mond mooi ingetogen tannine en lange afdronk. Fruit blijft prachtig overeind. Klassiek.

ruby red core transitioning to a watery rim. Semi Muted nose, you can smell the alcohol, and hints of oak, some cherry, blue berries. On the palate medium acidity, medium + tannin. Medium /medium + alcohol. Drink or hold for another 3-5 years.

Continues to be very welcoming, And its very charming and enjoyable at this stage. On the classic style but with a very good ripe core of fruit, not overdone, herbs de Provence , light spice. Very solid 90

Quite the classic CdP and drinks quite well now. Herbs de Provence, good red fruited core, well round and on the soft side with silky tannin. Its an interesting wine, well enjoyable and at a good place to be enjoyed now but lacked bit of magic and complexity. Solid 89

Decanted for an hour, this is a blend of 44% Grenache, 27% Syrah. 14% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault. Plums mixed with that stony minerality, good acidity, savory, well balanced wine that was a treat with roast-beef.

Classic CDR, fruit and body, but not a lot of depth and a touch of an off finish. Just not special.

Was expecting more, quite thin on the substance yet balanced cherry. Did not evolve much. Dont think more time will help. Drink up, cheers.

A bit too much raisin
Bitter
Heavy on the alcohol at first

En primeur tasting. 35% Syrah. Good fruit, less spicy and rich, an unusual expression of CdP. Good length and acidity. 89-91
