  • Barrel fermented classic Rioja with a beautiful nose of incense, mocha and macerated cherries. Medium + length and smooth tannins; good acidity. Some vanilla and coconut but not overpowering the red fruit core. It kept evolving over 2-3 hours. Decant if drinking now but will hold for a few more years in the right conditions

  • (tasted at store, freshly opened) A very well-balanced, refined Tempranillo. At 5yrs old, the oak and tannins are already well integrated. This is not a (cherry) fruit bomb, but restrained elegant wine making with lots of backbone. Put this against pork or duck dishes, even strongly flavored ones, except those with fruit. I didn't want to spit this or dump the last bits in the slops bucket, even though I had to drive.
