Wine tasting with friends. I brought this Daou as part of a vertical 2010, 2011, 2012. The 2010 was the star by all criteria (nose, mouth feel, balance, finish). The 2011 showed higher acid and less fruit. The 2012 was getting there on the overall.

Beautiful dark ruby color. Nose of black fruit, a little earth and a touch of leather (the cab franc). Seems like it should be a big, bold wine from the nose but the merlot softens it and though still some firm tannins, it is very drinkable. Full body, but I wanted more on the finish. Overall nice bottle of wine but on the expensive side from a QPR standpoint.

Test tasting 3 of the new club shipment Daou wines to get a sense of what we like and want to order for our next shipment. We want more of this. This bottle is rich, tasting much more pulled together than one would expect from such a young wine. Very layered with dark fruit, spice, maybe a little earth and wonderful tannins. This will be a standout wine. We are fighting over scoring this 92 or 93. 93 wins!

Drank with a 2013 and 2014 three year vertical. Great wine - plenty of structure and lots of fruit.

Well received at tasting. Well balanced tastes of red & dark fruits. A bit on the bold side, yet easy to drink.

Much bolder than the blend would suggest. Great fruit and balance. More please.
