Very smooth. Has the characteristic Venge body and heft. Drank with sou-vide ribs finished with Stubbs spicy sauce. Excellent wine drinking well now / likely best to drink now or soon.

Most distinctive quality was how smooth the finish was on this bottle. I'd say it's still a bit young and needs a solid 30-60 minutes upon open, but deep purple color, nice spicy kick on a medium-long smooth finish.

Consistent with previous note (which I didn't read prior to drinking again). I think prettydeceextrap below hits the reason pretty well. All that nice fruit hidden behind the alcohol. I could taste it, but not quite coming through with any sort of consistency. With this much alcohol you can't be dainty.

(B-) Fair amount of alcohol on the nose, with a nice bit of sweet red fruit wanting to peek through. Bold from the get go, but all the flavors are hiding behind acid. Warming the bottle helps a lot, and brings out some roundness to the fruit. Still a bit underdeveloped. Hold.

2012 Venge Vineyards Signal Fire Zinfandel | Dark purple coloring with a smooth transition onto the palate. You never feel the spice coming. | Nose of blackberries and not a whole heck of a lot else. | The blackberries dominate the palate from start to finish, but you definitely get a hint of the sweet honeysuckle. | Overall, my family and I liked this wine and we paired it with some beautiful filet mignons on Father's Day.

Earthy nose with some vanilla. Full lengthy finish with some aftertaste of grapefruit. Pairs well with Comte' cheese.
