Very nice Pinot. Earthy more Burgundian style. Nice acidity. Lingering finish. I do not think there will be any benefit to further collaring this wine. Drink up.

The is my first CT post here. I've found other reviews very helpful and accurate, so I'm hoping to add my own here to do the same for others. So, after being a big fan of the Dutton-Goldfield Emerald Ranch pinot noir from 2012, I tried this pinot from Azaya Ranch. From the start, all I could taste and feel was boysenberry. Boysenberry color, flavors, and aromas. The first impression falls evenly across the tongue with no rough patches in the first few sips. Very promising. It came across as nice--yet never went past that. Besides the jammy boysenberry there was a bit of sea salt that seemed sprinkled in, perhaps brought in by coastal fog that drifted in from Point Reyes. For a bottle that costs over $50, I was expecting more complexity. The Emerald Ranch I had a few weeks back--also from 2012--was similarly subdued, but at least had more mystery and waves of experiences that changed from the first sip on.

Tasting room- Clear, dense purple-ruby color. Aromas of violets, black cherry, raspberry, dried herb and cracked pepper. Bright acid on the palate with notes of black tea, minerality, violet, and black cherry. Very nice intensity to the flavors. Finely layered and very elegant. Full finish. Drink/hold. Excellent overall.

This is amazing Pinot. Still very youthful on the palette. Excellent nose, mouthfeel and finish. Yum!

Chicago Pinot Days (Navy Pier - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. All red fruit with spice hints, moderate intensity, overall good balance. Good.
