I expected a lighter and more classic styled red. This however comes across as past it's peak....perhaps i should have consumed this vintages earlier, much earlier.

Crimson color with no bricking. 2 hour decant before tasting and it really needed 4. First glass short on fruit and rough around the edges. Found its stride in the second glass, with characteristic aromatics and flavors of black and red berries, cassis, tobacco and herbs. Medium bodied with a smooth finish. Good, but not great. Hoping for better in next bottle.
Showing depth of color for the vintage, the nose offers licorice, black cherries and espresso beans. Medium/full bodied, with a forward appeal, the wine is round, soft, fruity with a hint of dark cocoa in the finish and easy to drink in its dark red berry oriented youth.

Union Des Grands Crus de Bordeaux San Francisco. Nose of black and red cherry fruit, dusty earth, more of the same on the palate, touch simple, touch fruit forward, medium body and medium/long finish, 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30& Merlot showing well tonight, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. $48.

The reviews seem to be all over the map but personally, I liked it. Good musty nose and bright cherry, lively acid on the palate. Would enjoy revisiting in a few years.

UGC Bordeaux (Drake Hotel - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Black fruit with very good spice and moderate ripeness. Well balanced, hints of finesse and a pleasurable finish. One of the better wines for its value at the tasting.

Dark ruby in color with a smoky, black raspberry nose, the wine is soft, medium bodied, fresh and easy-drinking with a minty, black cherry, forward personality. Blending 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the wine reached 12.8% alcohol. Produced from 28 hectoliters per hectare, the Grand Vin was produced from 60% of the harvest. The wine is aged in 100% new French oak. 89-91 Pts

Very good wine, but do not open now, very tight.
Open to air 6 hours, but still need more time.
Overall, Do not open until 5 years later.

UGC Bordeaux Tasting - 2013 Vintage (Bentley Reserve, SF): Good structure but weirdly underripe, with a blueish green note. Underripe blueberry, stemmy. Around 8.
