I thought all my bottles were long since drunk so I was pleased to discover this one at the back of a shelf. I think that it has darkened and become more complex and savoury than before with the 20% Malbec contributing a lot of that character. I need to seek out more bottles from this estate. Good+.

This is really excellent value right-bank claret at c.€9. Rich savoury fruit, suave texture but enough acidity and tannic structure to be never cloying. It could hold its own as a ringer with St.Emilion costing two or three times as much. Good+.

This wine is still showing very well, rich fruited but lively with good structure. Some bottles remain at the store inviting a repeat purchase. Good+ wine and fine QPR at c.€9.

PnP and let sit in the glass for about 10 minutes before sampling. Color is inky purple. Aromas of blackberries, blueberries, mocha, vanilla and a bit of stem. On the palate lush fruit and vanilla with some tannin. Drinking with and after dinner of grilled hamburgers, a tossed green salad with some fried Prosciutto, and some leftover faro salad with fennel, parsley, lime basil, leftover corn. A nice wine with food and after food. About 90 minutes after dinner the wine is a pleasant, medium bodied wine with a hint of sweetness in a somewhat mouth-drying finish.

This modestly priced Côtes de Bourg from 80% Merlot and 20% Malbec is quite a discovery. Colour deep nearly black. Nose attractive blend of red fruit and cigar box. Palate medium+ bodied showing fresh but quite rich fruit with none of the frequent Merlot cloy, some depth and complexity with grilled meat and more cigar box, fresh acidity, some minerals and a firm structure which no doubt owes something to the 20% Malbec. Good wine, good QPR and worth a repeat purchase.

This drank well over two days. Some tobacco and olive on night one. A bit of mint/licorice on night two. Dark fruited with good acidity. We both enjoyed it.

Haven't tasted this wine. Just translating the previous note below:
"medium intensity+, good sharpness, some freshness, good aromatic complexity, strawberry jam aromas, venison, smoked, blackcurrant, liquorice, amyl light, cocoa. Dry, acidity, nice consistency, medium tannins, firm."
Tasting note doesn't really fit with the low 70 point rating.
