A huge improvement over my last bottle of Hobbs Chardonnay, the Ulises Valdez was very juicy and full of very bold lemon, tangerine and peach flavors. Quintessential Sonoma: the cool climate makes for deeper flavor and better balance.

That's a nose like I've never smelled (smelt?) before. There seem to be diverse descriptions on CT, but all seem to agree it's a luscious nose. I'm a little transported to Asia, so I've got to go with white flowers, honeysuckle, pear, and a hint of jasmine. Fresh on the palate, white peaches, delicious. Long finish. A wine to be savored.

A wonderful, sultry buttery caramel on the nose. The palate is rich with oak and butter with lemon zest on the finish which really helps balance the wine out.

At our favorite sushi restaurant, white flowers on the nose, the palate is white plums, wet stones, almonds and a hint of grass on the finish which was long. A really excellent wine.

One of my quests in wine is to find a new world chardonnay that satisfies as much as a fine pinot, even though rated highly. Although most highly rated chardonnays disappoint me, this wine does not. Indeed, I think the Parker 93 rating does not do it justice. Although still young, this wine is in the league of the really top California chardonnays I have had (eg, the top Rochiolli and Kistler wines). Butterscotch and spice, with excellent balance and depth of flavor. Drinks well now, but should improve over at least the next two years. A winner!

Notes of green apple on the nose. Light on the buttery notes, beautiful oak balance.
