Being generous on my rating, never have had any luck on Buty wines. This is better than a 6 year old wine. We tried a tad out of the bottle, thought it was "tight", so decanted it for two hours. Against my strong advice, my wife ran it through a Vinturri aerator into the decanter. If anything, that made it worse. I have had similar experiences with prior Buty bottles. With Charles Smith and other Washington state wines, no problem. At this age, with uncorking and a little breathing, the wines are exceptional. This remained tight and unopened, even the second day. Did not seem "old", I read prior review and did not seem that this was in a "dumb phase" or anything, and it shouldn't be anyway at 6 + years. We know good wine and we have had plenty of really great Washington State Cabs, Syrahs and blends. As far as Buty, waste of $35. Was it the aerator? My only other thought is it was mishandled by the distributor or store where I bought it. It's been at 58 degrees since I bought it.

Better than previous bottles. Has rounded into form and drinking well now. I found the oak nicely integrated and the pep still in place. Not as good on Day 2 suggesting maybe good to drink nearer term.

Bettter than expected. Drinking well right now with no decant. Vanilla and clove nose. Blackberry pie, chocolate cake and plenty of cedar. All is well balanced with grippy tannins and medium long finish. There is a lot to enjoy if you don't overthink this one.

As with previous bottlings, this is extreme oak juice, cigar box, tea, cedar, cassis and cherry. The oak is just so overdone, I don't see it ever coming into balance.

Better than the last bottle but it's still very hard to get a sense of the bottle and enjoy it with all of the oak, I'll hold for a year before trying it again.

Luscious, balanced, and still very young.

I really liked this wine, definitely in its prime. Rich and luscious, medium to long finish, dark juicy fruits with a touch of leather.

Strong nose; fragrant upon owning. Lush berry with hint of coffee and chocolate. Outstanding wine.

Oak has toned down, milk chocolate, black and blue fruits, cigar box and cassis. Nice overall.

Tart cherry taste with a slight peppery nose. Really smooth wine done well for a cab of this region. Ready to drink and didn't need decanting.

Bright fruit, good acidity and mouthfeel, oak is extremely dominant and got worse the longer it was opened to the point of undrinkable.

Some tar on the cedar nose
On palate, soft lingering tannins, dark red berries with mineral tones
