The candied cherry fruit is still present and the wine has even picked up some tea notes. However, the acid additions have started to eclipse the fruit, throwing the wine out of balance. Time to drink up.

NJ Pinot Noir Tasting - June 21st OFFLINE - took place on July 22nd (New Jersey): Another fun bottle from Alma Rosa. This wine was open for about 45 minutes before first pour. Nose of dark red fruits and the slightest hint of spice. Candied cherry and blackberry on the palate, this was a very fruit forward wine with the slightest hint of cola. A pretty light bodied wine with a medium finish. A pleasure to drink, and we love Richard Sanford's wines! Great daily drinkers!

nice nose of rhubarb and sour cherries with some nicely integrated oak. well balanced and not over the top. still a bit young so i suggest holding this for a couple more years.

Popped (unscrewed) about an hour ago, no decant. mmm...very nice. Dark reddish-bordering on purple in the glass. Nose of cinnamon, clove, some dark fruit. Palate is rather plush and full...dark fruit, black cherry, some sweet baking spice followed by a citrusy-acidity. Still on the young side.Very nice, and a step up from their regular '04 bottling. Could improve with additonal time. Cheers. I think Buzz gave this a 94, I'll say 91.

Darker fruit than the 2005 STH. Candied cherry/plum/wildberry fruit....cola tingle, sandalwood, dried rose/herbs. Starts out a little disjointed, but with air, balances out nicely, and creamed up as well. More substantial then the STH...but still lighter than most Ca. Pinot. Shows more complexity with air...forest, tobacco spice, dried citrus peel. Another great wine from this producer!

Lots of red fruit though still a little heat in the nose and palate for my taste. This still needs time in the bottle IMHO. But, it is a nice drink after being open a hour or so.

Bickel: Clearer ruby color; grt blk berry, earthy berry patch, some black frt, even tar? Denise Bickel says pungent roses; nice silky mth, low t’s, good frt, hint bitter at end, med. long fin. Very nice, but maybe needs time.

Deep purple color. Some initial sour cherry and plum flavors get overpowered by pepper and woody tannins. Somewhat out of balance overall. Tannins need to integrate better with the fruit, but not sure if that will happen with this wine.

My last bottle. Tart red fruit and tons of acidity. I’m a stable place. Fine, but this is not going any better.

Great, fresh strawberry nose, good structure but acids were beginning to take over the finish.

No formal notes. Recall as being a failry sweet PN, good dark red and black fruits, very enjoyable. Wish I had taken notes on this one.

Very pretty, focused Pinot. Bright red fruit & spices (your typical pinot stuff) but unusually well-balanced. A definite crowd-pleaser!
