  • Decent meritage especially given it's from Finger Lakes. Very pleased to see this region catching up to other more renowned areas.

  • We bought this during a day trip through the Finger Lakes Region in Oct. 2015. Funny memory about that day. The winery is dog friendly so we brought our English Setter Clifford in with us. He was laying on the floor behaving perfectly. A guy came over to say hello to him, got him all wound up and Clifford barked rather loudly. A few minutes later, a staff member came over and said he was sorry but one of the guests complained that they were allergic to dog hair and that we would have to take Clifford outside. We've visited dozens of wineries over the years and that is the only time we ever got kicked out of one! I guess we need to try harder.

Regarding the 2012 Meritage Reserve, we tucked it into our basement and kind of forgot about it until last night. The Finger Lakes Region is not particularly known for their reds however if they keep producing wines like this one, that will change. A well made Bordeaux blend that would hold its own if blind tasted against similarly priced CA and WA state offerings. Really good, I would definitely buy this again.

  • Lovely with a broiled strip steak, and also lovely just drinking. Mellow.

  • What a terrific wine, makes me proud to be a fan of Finger Lakes viticulture. Spicy notes, blackberry, really superb with a cut of beef. The future of FLX wine is certainly very bright!
