Had a friend over that had a case of this from his parents restaurant in New Orleans (went under during covid) and I admit I pushed him to bring a bottle and I was surprised that it was drinkable. Opened up out of the decanter the second I poured it in and swirled it...Amazing to drink what was happening in 1929.

Mostly Burgs at Heidi's: As Brad said, "Really, just for fun." Sign me up. With all the auction fraud coming to light, we discussed the likelihood of being legit at length. While not a Rudy bottle, this did come from an auction likely to have fraudulent bottles. It was labeled as reconditioned at the domaine in 1990, meaning the cork came out in one piece no problem. The color is a light, brownish red showing age but also some life. The smell is pure Lafite with dark fruit, leather and what I think of as the distinctive Lafite "smoke." Old for sure, but also extremely pleasant. Equally nice on the palate. A little light and frail, but with good flavor intensity, good balance and a nice finish. There's no way to know for sure, but I left convinced this was the real deal. It's hard to score such a wine, since it's a 100 point, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks, Brad, for sharing such a treasure with us!

DoktaP, JoeG and Basecadet Visit KW (Dave's House): Popped and poured. Fully saturated cork. Surprisingly nice colour, with a deep garnet core. Obviously, some heavy bricking at the rim. On the nose, heavy sherry notes, prune, raisin, burnt apples. On the palate, sherry and prunes. Acidity is taking over and there is still a whack of tannin. Finish is clipped, quite unpleasant to drink. Now, the above review does not do justice to the experience, in that we got to consume a piece of history. Thanks to LP for bringing this one.

Light red, leather and orange pekoe nose replayed on the palate. Darker and denser than other the older lafites we’ve had(1912 and the 1897 come to mind.) Medium short finish.
