  • A not-good day in the Biodynamic calendar. Some sediment but it’s mostly sticking to the side of the bottle making decanting a touch challenging as I couldn’t see through the glass for sediment in the wine. Dark garnet core out to a ruby edge and thin watery rim. Nose of dark fruit, cedar, licorice root, and garrigue (roasted dried herbs - rosemary, oregano and thyme). Palate shows ripe soft black fruit with a savoury edge - really smooth on the palate with a nice touch of herbs and salinity on the finish. Medium bodied with bright acidity on the palate showing little sign of aging (as indicated by the colour) with bright red and black fruit showing on the finish. This is still young and is going beautifully with game hens this Easter Sunday. Will be better in 2-3 years when all is in even more balance. It still seems young.

  • Who knew a Rioja could become this mellow and smooth? Guess I've never held one for 10 years before.
