Ganevat Dinner (San Francisco): Holy moly what a gorgeous nose! There are complex flavors of apple, lemon, minerals, and yellow fruit with lots of depth and layers. Good acidity with impeccable balance, subtle flavors, but good intensity. The palate has similar flavors and a long finish. This was outstanding, wow! Really interesting to contrast this with all the great Ganevat wines tasted tonight. Quite different style, less rich, much more subtle and nuanced. My WOTN.

Another Jura wine that needed some decanting before expressing itself. Still lots of energy and somewhat primary at this point. Acidity still present, honey, apples, lengthy finish.

Losing my Overnoy virginity with this exemplary bottle. What a wine! Deep golden in the glass. An oxidative veil covers the fruit at the moment, so I'm saying 2-3 years down the road this could come into sync with everything else. So textural and rich, but still retaining a fine sense of Chenin-like elegance to it. White peach, bruised apple, ripe melon combine with this salinity that's hard to put into words. The acidity lights up the show, making the finish last even after I had a glass of another wine that couldn't steal the spotlight of this even in its wildest dreams. Exceptional effort.

Natural wines - Special Edition (Barabba): The acidity of this wine is completely off the chain but again without being overdone or undrinkable. There is a general intensity that really shows what this wine can do and it shows amazing. Amazing wine! 96-97p

Hasn't budged since last tasting in October. Quiet but elegant expression of savagnin--white flowers and touch of honey emerges with about 45 mins in glass.

Erfrischend, animierend, wild und rebellisch. Dabei komplett trocken, wenig Frucht dafür viel nasser Stein und Salzigkeit. Balance stimmt. Erinnert an einen kargen Chablis, aber mit mehr Charme und Druck. 92

Supreme elegance and clearly one of the best savagnin tasted to date. Great minerality and acidity too. I would say the wine is really ‘soft’ to its core which is probably a hard to find character of this grape?
Impressive. 93 points.

Light yellow fruit and green apple nose with the slightest hint of pineapple. The palate is sweet and pretty ripe tasting with a nice jolt of acidity on the long finish. 90 Euros at La Madia.

Stunning - a perfect bottle. Gorgeously pure nose of ripe yellow fruit that is complicated by floral notes and that vaguely chalky oxidative tone that seems to permeate every proper Jura white wine, regardless of whether or not is it topped up (and this is). Beautiful complexity and harmony on the palate, with perfect acidity and great length. Grew and developed in the glass over a few hours. Beautiful wine, and the thing that stands out for me is the harmonious package - the wine is perfectly composed, and so very highly expressive. Reference standard.

Slow ox'd for 8 hours and still tights as a drum. Very young wine and wound tightly. Pleasantly green with a nutty finish. Some oxidized notes on the nose. Shows lots of upside just didn't show it right now. The structure is there just needs time.

Slow oxed for about 7 hours before dinner; This is clearly a young wine that wasn't revealing all its charms at this age; Nose was a touch muted, but did have some tropical fruits and a touch of lemon; Palate was fairly round and waxy with some light nutty and floral notes; Interesting to try but would recommend holding for now

Dinner at The Bristol (Chicago, IL): Here's another you don't see every day. There's a good dose of rich fruit on the nose and palate -- I got some ripe pineapple, though the acidity isn't as racy as you'd get from the chardonnay (which I admit, I think I prefer for its exuberant freshness). This is a bit more juicy and fatter, though there is certainly ample acidity to hold things together.

I understand the appeal, but not my preference. Far too mineral and sharp edged for my palate.
Admittedly a more interesting aromatic profile.

From magnum. This did still feel surprisingly young, lacking some complexity I was hoping for. Pure and elegant, but didn't stand out at this tasting.

PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Fruit” day): Medium golden to the eyes.
Still very primary. But already an inspiration of the great 2004 tasted. Consistent with previously tasted.

Pretty wine.
Just enough oxidation for complexity but not too much to distract. In a great place now.

Delicious. Very young and primary. All lemon and acid right now but suspect in 2-4 years (and beyond) this will be extraordinary to revisit.

Tasting with Pierre Overnoy and Emmanuel Houillon in Kyoto (kiln in Kyoto, Japan): PNP into Radikon tasting glass (“Fruit” day): Medium lemon to the eyes. Fresh and ripe yellow fruits, some florals and korean spice. Not extremely aromatic but a good assortment of aromas.
