Apparently Tarrango is a cross between Touriga Nacional and Sultana. 5 g/l residual sugar, 6 g/l acidity.
Luminous, pale raspberry red color. Fresh, floral and quite expressive nose with very youthful aromas of tropical fruits like mango and papaya, some sweet raspberry marmalade tones, a little bit of raspberry and a hint of juicy boysenberry. The wine is light-bodied, lively and acid-driven on the palate with rich flavors of wild strawberries, some sweet raspberry candy tones, a little bit of perfumed floral character and a hint of blueberry. The structure relies solely on the high acidity, as there seem to be no discernible tannins in the wine. The finish is light, fresh and slightly sweet with vibrant flavors of strawberry candies, ripe raspberries, some perfumed floral tones, a hint of sweet, grapey fruit and a touch of bilberry.
A fun and very un-serious little red that drinks more like a Beaujolais Nouveau with a hint of residual sugar than anything what you'd normally associate with an Australian red wine. The balance between the acidity and residual sugar is great here, although the flavors are heavily in the sweeter end of the fruit spectrum, which makes the wine appear sweeter than it really is. Nothing serious, but nevertheless a fun and tasty little sipper that drinks nicely on a warm summer's day - at least if served chilled enough.
