This Sfursat personified. Displaying a gorgeous pure ruby color in the glass. The nose showed intense spiced cherry, balsamic, grilled herbs, dried flowers, and hints of undergrowth. It seemed to hover, weightless on the palate, yet deliver a mix of concentrated dried fruits. Cherry, blackberry, and blueberry were all present, along with savory minerals, roasted pepper, dusty earth and crushed flowers. A wave of brisk acidity provided lift and made the mouth water. It finished with a hint of heat, yet forgivable as remnants of dried fruits and spice lingered on.

10.9.15 really good after it opened. Tight on the cork but the nebbiolo came thru to a supple and flavorful wine. Food friendly once opened. Hold the other bottle a while like maybe to 2020.

A recioto wine, but much lighter and very different from an Amarone. It doesn't hit you over the head with extracted powerful flavors, but rather is much more of nuanced and aromatically complex wine. Needs several hours to open up, but then rewards those patient enough with an evolving dense bouquet layered over a vibrant racy structure.
Despite the higher alcohol content and recioto grapes, this wine is still very much a nebbiolo, a thinner, lighter, garnet colored wine at the core, wrapped in powerful aromatics; an intriguing combination of sour red cherry with tar and licorice. Oak treatment is very neutral, I would imagine the 5 Stelle version with new oak finishing is much more plush. This wine should age spectacularly as there's plenty of structure to go the distance.

Early Oct 2021: pale brownish dark red color; chemical and funky nose; haggard palate.
Unluckily this bottle was defective.

Great wine with high acidity, mature fruit and well integrated tannins

Gave it 3 hours in the decanter, drinking well now, not too complex but what it does it does well; should be able to stay strong for many years.

Solider Wein, aber es fehlt etwas Besonderes. Wirkt rund aber zu wenig Struktur für einen tollen Wein.
