Kistler is simply not great until you give it this much time and more.
Loads of; cranberries, pomegranate, strawberries, cherries, steeped fruit tea, toast, top soil, dry rock powder, saline, bright, mid florals, excellent acidity with great; balance, tension, structure and ruby polished finish for a full minute and half.

Medium body (14.1%) dark red wine. After 45 minutes to open nice nose. Full mouth of soft plum and dark cherry fruit. Hint of oak in the long finish. Interesting that after a day or two in the refrigerator much of the fruit had left.

Light to medium (14.1%) body red wine. Slight nose with subdued (thin) fruit after 30+ minutes to open. The bottle may have been at the end of its drinking window.

Is this a good wine? Yes it certainly is. One of the better Cali pinots I've bought. Berry nose, hints of vanilla, bit of tobacco. Pronounced legs on the glass. Sour cherries, medium tannin, decent complexity, and a long soft finish. No over ripeness or over extraction as can be all too common with some of its cousins. Now the question - is this worth the price? Debatable. I certainly could have purchased equal quality Oregon pinots for half the price, and probably at a third of the price from some cool climate regions. And this is where I can't score this over 90 because if I look at the QPR I get 2 or 3 bottles of equal enjoyment from elsewhere. And that's what continues to shrink the Cali quantities in my cellar.

Good, but it's time to drink these if you have them, in my opinion. Hadn't gained depth since last bottle, but the fruit did thin out a bit. I don't see a positive trajectory going forward from today.

Upon opening the bottle, the aroma was disappointing, nothing felt. 250ml was then stored in the refrigerator. The remaining liquid in the bottle was placed back to the cellar and did not improved in the following 3 days. However, the 250 ml in the refrigerator started to show nice floral aroma about 5 days later. I believe this wine is still too young to drink now, if it can be any better.

Pours an inky purple color with plenty of long legs to show. Nose is concentrated and very powerful, yielding a lot of red grapes, jello, cassis, eucalyptus, mint and leather. Palate is very viscous with a lot of fat on the front. The wine taste of bacon fat, blackberry jam, boysenberry, strawberries, eucalyptus, leather and just a touch of sous bois line the palate. Finish is raspy with a smoky kick to it. Very tasty, but unquestionably a hot climate pinot.

Delicious RRV Pinot. Had a slightly interesting "funk" on the nose at opening, but blew off after a few minutes. Delightful after 1 hour decant. Agree with description from cuffthis on 7/19/2017.

Medium ruby in color, this wine reveals intense dark red fruits of black cherry and blackberry on the nose. The mouth feel is fuller bodied with added elements of smoke, anise and graphite as well as Asian spices and forest floor undertones. The finish has very vibrant acidity, is beautifully balanced and lingers for 20+ seconds. 14.1% abv.
Purchased for $54US, this is a simply gorgeous offering that was delightful with my crab cake entree tonight. There is layers and layers of complexity with this.

Russian river: lucent bright ruby with a wide rim. Herbs, licorice, cooked fruit, species, alcohol on the nose, pine. Medium very firm heavy tannin, wetleaves, bitter alcohol, medium+ acidity, round body, dry. Woody and latte hot finish(14). Dark tea with aeration and sour cherry, bay leaves as well.

New bottle just opened. A bit of effervescence at first blush. Quickly evolved to a not quite syrupy not quite light traditional Pinot initial palate. No barnyard or Terrior of which to speak. Some spicy meaty nose which simply does not translate to the largely cherry and raspberry initial palate. The finish is balanced but short. Price seems to be creeping up and obviating my previous value comment. If I seem picky it must be one if those days.

First Kistler Pinot even though I had their Chardonnays before . Color was light but bright ruby red. Nose had a lot flowers and on palate I had raspberries, honey and spice. At the finish there even some heat going on . Delicious !!

A bit cold out of the bottle but there's still a nice burgundy wannabe nose. Syrupy but clean and spicy. Well made and obviously very young. Good value over some of their single vineyard offerings. I love the Bing cherry comment!

This was too young and unevolved. Decanted for an hour. Nose was shy and straightforward with notes of strawberry, spice, and pie cherry. Similar flavors, on the delicate side now, showing less depth and secondary characteristics than I think it will in 3+ years. Clearly well-made and certainly tasty, but it will get better. Hold.

Plantings from Cote d'Or. Gorgeous nose, pretty cherries, light spice, fresh orange tea. Palate shows immediate power (14.1% ABV), layered presentation, red cherry, elegant bing note, light spicy molasses, maybe a rhubarb in there, acidity medium, some light tannins, finish medium plus or better. Drink now but holding is probably better, and get some if you can!

Nose is lovely, with lots of spice. Palate doesn't live up to the nose, not terribly complex and there's some heat on the finish. Maybe it will get better in time. Not a big fan of domestic Pinot but this one I'd be willing to try again.

One of first '13 pinots tasted so few expectations. Nice! Lively red berries, a little petillance but nothing too distracting... a good hit of oak in the end. Drank the last of the bottle the next day, very sound. Best out out of the Riedel New World pinot glass, very good from the Cab glass, worst from the "normal" Riedel pinot.
