Served with sloppy cubanos and chips. Clear ruby, good color. Please if a bit non-descript nose. Nice drinking wine - stood up to the cubanos. Did exactly what it's supposed to do for the price.

Great standard Malbec, if that makes sense. A little rough around the edges but I bet in a year it would be just right. I would buy again, just not at a restaurant :-)

Simple, and a little rough around the edges, but still very enjoyable. Earthy nose, good flavor on the tongue, and a slightly disjointed finish. Hadn't bought this in a long time, and I can't recall why we stopped - for a weeknight drinker, it's just fine.

Wines At Our Table; March 13, 2016; 3/7/2016-3/13/2016: Violet color with restrained dark fruit, violet and peppery aromas. On the palate it's supple and smooth with ample (bordering on jammy, but not quite for me) blackberry, plum and a bit of black currant flavors with a spicy finish.

Tasted blind, initially the nose was very GSM like, meaty, strawberry and cream so nothing like a Malbec. Very flat in the mid-palate, the structure is fairly poor and is a bit watery in nature. The oak is kept in check initially upon opening but then a very cheap oak taste comes out with air and if you have any left on day two it is undrinkable. My wife hated this too, she is usually less harsh then I and she could not drink it. Pass at any price. I also don't think it's true to the varietal.

I've drunk this wine twice. I love the Trapiche Oak Cask Pinot Noir, and I was curious to try this one out, but I like it a lot less. It's a much less interesting wine, but it's still very pleasant. I think of this as a harmless wine that is relatively smooth, if you want something for sort of generic tastes.
Very rounded flavor, too sweet for me, smooth. Lightly sour, a muted sourness, not much up front bite, but becomes more sour mid-sip and leaves a sour finish.
I find this one doesn't do it for me, but I can enjoy it. It tastes too sweet and the aroma isn't complex enough for me. The alcohol is also very evident in the aroma, it's pretty boozy. At least there are no "off" qualities though. But the Pinot Noir from Trapiche I find is much more interesting and complex and I would gladly choose that one, and it's the same price.

Oak on nose with mild wet earth and water logged branch, blackberry. Dark cassis and BlackBerry palate with soft tannins. Leathery and a little pepper and spice late palate, finish is a touch acrid and bitter.
Low/med acidity, tastes light, almost watery.
Better wines at this price although not terribly priced.

Deep with plum and dark berries, faint smoke. Characteristics of its oak aging are also subtly noticeable. This wine was $10/bottle (maybe a sale price?); an absolutely excellent value.

Jammy plum and dark cherry, toast, cinnamon, chocolate and some herbal notes. Bit warm too. Plush mid palate with dark fruits again. A tad edgy at times. Medium acidity and finish.

Trapiche Lunch (Rios D'Sudamerica, Chicago IL): Nose: The wood is there, but it more provides a backdrop along with black cherries, anise seed, black fruits, blueberries, and a touch of wood spice.
Taste: Medium/Full bodied with medium acidity and silky tannins. The feel is plush, but not overtly fruity with black cherries, black fruits, and some spice notes.
Overall: This is an excellent value for under $10. It's well balanced with a nice black fruit core.

Paired fantastic with grilled NY strip steak.
Black cherry on the nose. Full body. Hints of chocolate and a touch of smoke on the finish.

Deep Purple. Cherry, hint of chocolate. Nice well balanced lenghty finish. Very good price-quality for a $7 bottle. Paired nicely with spaghetti.
