  • Big tannin but lovely when it opened up. Paired with lasagna, garlic bread and fresh greens salad. This wine stood up well to the garlic and oregano.

  • Completely different soil. Limestone and clay here but no sand. More acidity because of the clay. Spicy and direct, green, “Too young and this moment” notes Calvalotto.

    Bonny and Karl like, Calvalotto notes that it needs one more year. Erin says ’13 is a great vintage for Dolcetto – this year is lighter, more fruit and less alcohol. Very fresh. Their style is dolcetto to drink three to four years in the bottle, or more. For them, Dolcetto is not a cheaper wine. It is the same quality as the Barolos. “Because I have to spend many hours in the vineyard.”

    Vigna Scot is a very very old name, probably coming from the first owner. Which Calvallotto says exists and has been documented.
