Well i was so impressed a few weeks back that i had to try when i saw it on the list! That was a totally different bottle unfortunately, way too oxydized. Am sure the source of those 2 bottles is the same so has to do with bottle variation.

Chenin tasting at home with the gang (non blind). WOTN for most of the group (except Eli). Pronounced nose of wax, pear, quince and ripe lemon zest. Intense palate with honey and a slight oxydation at first and the blew off to make space for ripe lemons. First time trying a relatively aged chenin and loved it! Will try again if i can find

YAWG Chenin Tasting (X place): Lemon-gold appearance. Honey, wax, pear on the nose with some steel. Quite different on the palate than the nose. Fresh and precise. Ripe lemon and crushed rock flavours. Electricity and tension.

My first experience having an older vintage of this wine. And it drank beautifully. Everything well integrated, still a bit of energy. Probably at its peak.

Getting more and more oxidative and thus, much more interesting. Enamel-scraping acidity, briefly tart before sliding down the gullet on layers of ripe lime/lemon fruit, saline, glycerin, and rock. I’d love to have a couple more bottles. 5+11+17+9= 92

Getting there. A nice golden color is developing but the bouquet is still pretty tight for the first couple hours open, though much more expressive and complex than I recollect from my prior tasting in 2016. I think another few years of cellaring will see it enter the sweet zone, where it could likely cruise for another 10 years. 5+11+16+9= 91

Classic green apple, some wooly notes, and great acidity to carry it through to a clean finish. As it warmed it all came together. If there is one critique, the acid was slightly out of balance on the higher side, but I would prefer that than the alternative. Great now with some time in the glass and food, but I have some more and I intend to hold on to them, as I see a reasonable amount of upside. Structure and acid should keep this in a good place for quite a few years. Fun bottle.

Holy smokes, this is one painfully dry and highly acidic Chenin that really needs a few, or maybe several, more years to express itself. Great now, in the same vein as a Muscadet can be great with oysters and the like, but I sense so much more is to come. Setting my start date for future bottles to 2020 and beyond.

Really great stuff. Love it but give the edge to the 2012 over the 2013. Big acid wine, big pleasure.
