  • The bad news is this one unfortunately has a little hit of residual sugar. The rest of the package is pretty darn solid. The color is surprisigly clearish red. The nose is candied red raspberry, roses, and some heat. The sugar gives the entrance a good smooth beginning, but even the residual sugar can't hide the South African style, terroir based secondary flavors that give this super value priced red a commendable score. There is leather, vanilla, black tea, red licorice and something stemmy. Tiny, welcome tannins. A little too much heat. Red hot style (cinnamon) spice. There is a Rhonish flavor to this wine that belies it's modest pricepoint.

  • This has presence and character that belie its budget price. Coffee, cherry and spice on the nose. Mouthfeel is smooth and medium-bodied, with great acidity. A solid tannic structure rounds it out while black cherry lingers on the finish. Tasty.

  • Very drinkable and a GV at the price.
