  • Slightly purple-tinged ruby with medium plus reflectivity and optical density. Somewhat tight nose, with dust from toasted nuts, light spicy cherry, and brambly forest floor. Shows surprising liveliness on the palate given the muted nose, with refreshing acidity, medium minus body, and is dry with firm tannin structure starting from the final transition. Flavours of bramble-rolled bright red berry fruits on the attack, with a touch of hollowness at midpalate. Shows some dusty forest floor and savory herbs as things pick up toward the finish, which shows dried leather and medium minus length.

This shows decent balance and has an elegant quality, which paired with the refreshing acid provides a nice food wine, as that will fill in some of the lack of intensity and complexity in the wine. Certainly a well-made CCR, with plenty of classical qualities, but also a bit flat- not oozing with personality. At least it delivers typicality and everyday enjoy-ability at a fair price.

  • Showing a nose redolent with raspberries and cherries. Juicy on the palate, with bright fruit and acidity, and lovely balance. Drinking now with a good decant.

  • A lovely Chianti. Decanted two hours--needed the air. Aromas of flowers, cherries, plums. Bright acidity on the palate, with the fruit showing through well against food. A terrific food wine, and fabulous QPR. Drinking now (just) but better in a year.
