  • Black raspberry, red raspberry, minerals and some leather on a very complex nose. Well integrated on the palate. This is in a fantastic place and has some life ahead of it. Slight bricking on the edge but fruit still coming through and wonderful secondary characteristics. The was a steal for $39. Ready now and easily at peak for another few years.

  • What I didn’t realize until this week is when I bought this 2013, Sofia & I tasted this with Roger in his cellar before it received the label after reviewing photos.

This was $25 on release and it is beautiful tonight as it was last weekend.

Ripe, juicy; blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, purple fruits, blueberries & some dark cherries. Grilled meats, light black pepper, dry galet stones, spice, dry top soil, dry tobacco, used leather, slightly moist volcanic mineral mixed w/ clay, sandalwood, dry & withering dark, red & purple florals, rainfall acidity, a well balanced, nicely structured, beautifully tensioned, balanced, elegant finish that last two-minutes and lands on minerality and florals.

  • PnP. Inky purple w/ dark red edge in color. Nose of blackberries, granite, garrigue and a hint of saddle leather. On the palate: intense blackberry, cassis, baking spice and glints of black licorice. Plush tannins are just barely perceived on gums. Long finish of blackberries, vanilla, granite and subtle wood spice. Lost points due to intensity (as others called out), but this is still killer wine and good QPR. I've had multiple C-d-P's that are twice this price and not as enjoyable.

  • Agree with other 2023 reviews. Still has solid front end mouthfeel and varying notes. Starting to lose it’s luster a bit and falls flat on the finish. After about 3 hours, wasn’t much complexity left. Drink up.

  • I appreciated the bottle I had one year ago a little more. This is still drinking wonderfully, with dark frutis on the nose but red frutis on palate. Evolved both on nose and palate, with earthy and leathery notes. This may have peaked, but there is still plenty of time for enjoyment.

  • PnP. Purple w/ garnet hue and dark red edge in color. Nose of blackberries, black pepper and olives. On the palate: dark fruit, cassis and black olives. Sandy tannins are still grippy, but mostly cloaked by the fruit; perceived predominantly on gums and tongue. Medium to long finish of cranberry, damson plum, wood spice and glints of flinty minerality.

  • Ageing is appearing both in scent and smell. In my opinion this is in the sweet spot right now. Dark fruit, plums and a quite large amount of oak dominates. Secondary notes like tobacco and mushrooms. Tannins are silky with a medium acidity. All adds up nicely.

  • Another evening in Singapore with wine and cheese with the Bellevue wine tarting crew. Medium purple color. Cherries and plum on the nose, licorice, pepper, forest floor is quite obvious. Med acidity, full body, high alcohol, med tannins, Med flavor intensity, Med+ finish. Some capsicum, forest floor, can still evolve further, overall nice but would recommend to wait a bit longer. To note that after one hour started to open up more, capsicum notes disappeared and hence wine tasted much rounder. Would decant for at least 1 best 2 hours.

  • Tasted at Arroyo Vino CNP tasting on 8/5/17: Again late in the tasting and a paucity of notes. Garnet. Deep raspberries. Bigger than the '14 Clos du Caillou, "Les Safres" (which I slightly preferred). $72

  • This really offers a lot of bang for the buck. The garrigue and peppery, red fruits on the nose is enough to move you. But the soft, silky, ripe, fresh mouth feel is just as delicious. The wine was made from a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre.

  • This wine is in serious competition to win an award for one of the top values from the entire appellation. And in the difficult 2013 vintage, this wine is no exception. Plenty of fresh, ripe fruits, hints of thyme, pepper and herbs, with a soft textured, cherry dominated finish.
