  • No formal note. Attractive soft plum and red fruit, hints of creamy vanilla, not overly intense or complex on the palate but attractive fruit and tannins less noticeable on medium length finish as wine warmed.

  • Lords, 1st test vs NZ. Much darker in colour than the Fourrier, deep ruby, still with purple tints, narrow pale ruby rim. Youthful nose too with ripe plum fruit and plenty of creamy vanilla oak evident. Similar flavours on the palate too, reasonable depth, moderate but just about balanced acidity, some noticeable firm, chewy tannin on the finish of this bottle which may have suffered from the journey to the ground.

  • Medium ruby. Soft, fruity medium intense nose, plum and some red-toned fruit, vanilla, spice, slight hint of coffee. Moderately intense on the palate but attractively fruity, soft tannins, just enough acidity, maybe just a hint of bitterness but not particularly intrusive, decent mid-palate interest, vanilla cream moderate length finish. Easy to drink, good mid-week wine, not going to get any better and for drinking over the next 12-18 months.

  • Deep ruby core, narow pale purple rim.
Attractive ripe plum on the nose, layers of ripe fruit, relatively youthful but some earth and vanilla.
A medium/medium+ bodied wine with plenty of ripe tannins giving a lovely smooth palate with ripe plum and bilberry fruit and hints of earth and vanilla on a good length finish, with just enough balancing acidity.
Lovely, honest, uncomplicated but hugely enjoyable St Emilion. Drink now and over the next 2-3 years.

  • Medium/deep ruby core, narrow bright purple rim. Medium + intense nose, just beginning to develop complexity and bursting with ripe soft red plum and raspberry fruit, hints of spice. Plenty of ripe tannins and good, even crisp acidity. Initially strangely subdued on the palate, but opening out after an hour or so to reveal medium intense ripe plum and raspberry fruit with hints of earth and spice on a moderately extended finish. This is very good now and will improve further over the next 2-4 years
