I found this an impressive wine in the true meaning of the word. Unlike the previous reviewer, I thought the tannins were a bit too monumental and I would actually have liked it to be more smooth, not less. I thought I was a true lover of rusticity, but maybe I have changed a bit over the years. Still, the wine was very good.

Medium-medium(+) ruby with garnet tinge, slow moving widely-spaced legs @14.5% abv. Medium aromas of summer cherries, caulked wood, pepper, tar, allspice (?), oak. Dry, medium(+) acidity, medium silky ripe tannin, medium(+) alcohol with occassional residual heat, medium(+) body. Flavors of cherries, red berries, leather notes, sweet spice, mocha, and notes of bitter chocolate. Balanced, elegant yet tannin tend to be firm, like a dominatrix, seducing complexity. Great length satisfying dry finish. Excellent wine, works wonders with risotto, mushrooms.

A perfect example of a classic Barolo ready to drink now or age for decades.
Zero sweetness but gentle tannins rounded with mineral tones.
If you can fine one buy one. Buy all. It’s a great wine.

Literally a perfect example of what Barolo should be. Very little fruit notes, light leather and mineral. Drink within 3 hours of opening.
