  • Opened at Zarzo in Eindhoven. Decanted and enjoyed.

This was an extremely good wine, but also unfortunately disappointing for me given my even loftier expectations. Echoing some of the notes below, I think I caught this in a sleepy phase. There was a slight hint of barnyard that needed some air to blow off, and even after decanting and giving it some time in the glass it just wasn't as aromatically explosive as I would hope from this very special combination of Mugnier and Les Amoureuses.

I actually felt that the palate was performing better than the nose: there was good weight, but it danced lightly; there was a lot of precision and minerality showing through an acidic backbone. But it can definitely loosen up more, get more ethereal, and show its true beauty.

Definite upside, and definitely should be held for a few more years. I'd love to revisit this in at least 5+ years, hopefully by then it will be even better. That being said, this bottle is always a treat, and was so happy to share with A and the team.

  • This wine seems to have shut down a bit since last time I opened a bottle 3 years ago. On the palate, the fruit is exceptionally pure and precise, just so elegant and silky. Sadly though, this is giving very little aromatically, which was a disappointment considering what I've experienced with other bottles of Mugnier Amoureuses (including this 14' when it was younger). I would hold these bottles for a few more years at this point and hopefully catch it on the other side of this slightly awkward phase.

  • Atlanta Amoureuses & Monty Dinner: Young, but showing lots of promise. All the pieces are there and should come together with a few more years.

  • The bewitching high-toned aromatics of the 14 Mugnier Amoureuses is simply out of this world. Having had a 14 DRC RSV the night before, they are actually not too dissimilar in terms of the delicate perfume and spices if we strip away DRC’s new oak and stems. Sensual, delicate fruits of mixed berries, fine floral bouquet of rose petal and potpourri, and silky minerals. Ethereal with a hauntingly long finish. I have the slightly smidge preference towards the 14 DRC RSV (a sucker for posh oak and stems!) (94/100)

  • Wow, this was good. Beautiful aromatics, juicy and quite approachable in its youth. Silky texture and super elegant, such a pretty wine. Drank at hotel du cap Ferrat, we really enjoyed this one.

  • Drank next to 2007 Dujac Bonnes Mares. Not much in the way of notes - while the Bonnes Mares showed muscle the Amoureuses was airier with zippy cherry fruit on the front of the tongue. It was higher energy than I expected, highlighted next to its glassmate. Tasty but I enjoyed the experience of the BM more.

  • Barrel sample at the Domaine. My first taste of Les Amoureuses. A serious floral nose. Elegant and silky on the palate. Lovely stuff.
