  • Not overly complex, but a big, fruit-filled, creamy, reductive, pleasurable wine that I think will improve with a few more years. Generally I've been a little perplexed by the few Cote de Nuits white I've had and haven't always loved them but there's promise here.

  • I had very high hopes for a recent purchase of this bottle, but am now quite baffled at the professional reviews. This is not "liquid candy," but an austere, mineral version of Chardonnay that lacks complexity, richness, or fruit. While it has an interesting yeasty nose, it is rather uninspired on the palate. I understand that Vougeot turns out dry, mineral whites, but in this terroir and at this price I'd expected something more in line with top shelf white Burgundy. Certainly not bad, but far short of the mark the market has set for Vougeot. Perhaps for twice the price the 1er cru is more enjoyable?
