For less than $20 this is a very respectable Cab. Not showing a hint of age, actually thought this most likely would approve with another year or two in the cellar. Quite concentrated, good cab character. Nice acidity too, with restrained fruit.

Still drinks young, better after some glass time. Did not try to decant THIS bottle but may be worth the next one. Solid Sonoma cab, always reminds me velvety layers of chocolate cake with blackberry glaze. yum yum.

Tasted distinctly like Sonoma Cabernet, considerably better than expected. Cocoa, baking spice, dark rich fruit but without the candied element of much mass-market Cab about this price.

Good solid Alexander Valley Cab with characteristic black cherry fruit. Age has helped this wine, as tannins have been toned down. Tannins showed strongly on prior bottles. As a result, this bottle was significantly better than prior bottles. This wine drinks well currently, but will improve for at least another year. Update June 2018: the wine has continued to improve and is now fully mature.

Had with steak better. Tight on opening, decwnged for an hour prior to consuming. Gets better with time. Berry and tovacco flavors on the pallet, nice long finish. Good wine, but there are others that i would by in the same price range. Will get another bottle to age longer.

First impression is yes, this a typical Alexander Valley Cabernet. More red fruit than dark. By no means over ripe. Graphite entry of cranberry and red cherry fruit. Competent, but lacking that explosive umph. Young and astringent, still evolving. Swirling brings things up to a friendly 86-87. The color is really dar. Some commendable Cabernet like flavors and aromas. Things opened up overnight, this is probably a very good wine that was unable to show me it's all today.

SIMI 2013 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon follows up on its deep, dark garnet color and ruby edge with lifted and pretty aromas of bright currant and cherry, blackberry, and plum. Compelling flavors of cherry and plum along with black pepper spice add life to this full-bodied-yet-silky wine that finishes with soft, velvety roasted coffee tannins and a bit of peppery cassis. Overall, the wine is youthful, mouthfilling, juicy, and bright. Our Alexander Valley Cabernet is incredibly food friendly, bringing out the best in grilled strip loin with roasted mushroom jus, Moroccan spiced lamb shoulder with capers and preserved lemon, roasted venison with huckleberry sauce, or pork pot roast with prunes.

13.5 alcohol, medium metal foil, appears to be a composite cork, inky red, fast to medium legs, muted nose with hint of delicious fruit, confirmed by first sip, citrus, blackberries, sour cherries with little sourness, balanced sweetness fruit/tannins, medium to full bodied, fruit forward, complex texture -- layers of fruit and tannins, 3D depth, 13.5% alcohol, pair with lamb (rack or leg), or rare steak; terrific finish but not too lingering

Medium-dark purple with violet at the edges. Strawberries, black pepper, and an element of fruit punch on the nose. Notes of strawberries and cherries with an edge of pine tar. Strong but not overwhelming tannins.

Opaque purple red violet color; aromatic, black currant, black cherry, berry syrup, baking spice nose; rich, slightly tight, black currant, black cherry, baking spice palate with some balancing acidity; could use 1 year; medium-plus finish (88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot, 1% Malbec; 13.5% alcohol; 16 months in French & American oak, 15% new French, 10% new American)

Decanted 2 hrs, dense ruby color, light nose w/cherry, med mouthfeel, long finish with light tannins and green/tart note, maybe better next year, otherwise easy drinker.

“The faces of California Cabernet Sauvignon”, Flight 1, Wine 4: The wine was dark ruby, almost purple in colour and offered saddle leather, cedar and mushroom on the nose. On the palate the wine was dry yet fresh, with cherry, blackberry and chocolate flavours, paired with fresh, medium-plus acidity, medium-plus to high tannin, moderate heat from the alcohol and good length. The full-bodied, medium-complex wine had good grip and was more balanced than the first three wines of the flight. Solid.

Better than expected--and not meant as a backhanded compliment. Beautiful dark garnet, raspberry tones, well balanced. Nice cab

Drinking well now with pretty good balance between tannins and acid. Acid comes through stronger on second day. Medium with typical Sonoma taste.
