Deep color. Banana dominates the bouquet and palate, with underlying butterscotch qualities. Perhaps something plasticy too. All in all, a bit simple and one dimensional. Drink 'em if you got 'em.

Everything we expect from an excellent Wyncroft Chardonnay! From first taste til last it was singing. Oak is integtated nicely with crisp fruit. Just delicious!

Light gold color, apple and pear notes, nicely balanced with subdued oak and acidity. Paired very well with lobster. I'm not a big Chard drinker (wife's domain) but this hit the pleasure centers for me. Better than a previous bottle that had brighter acidity with more citrus notes. Served at room temp after 2 hour decant.

Totally solid, very nice mouth feel with some viscus texture that's smooth, rather full-body, a touch of butteriness, and respectable complexity that shows that potential of wines coming out of Michigan state.

Wyncroft Winery Visit (Michigan): Similar to the Rae Lee with an initial aroma of banana, which turns to vanilla crème, stone and apple. Flavors of orchard fruit and blonde butterscotch with a subtle earthy/dirty quality. We came back upstairs and had a chance to revisit a few wines, this among them. This has opened very nicely- the obvious tropical fruit and banana has faded to a background note and orchard fruit and honeycomb aromas have come forward. There's a nice Meursualt-like nuttiness on the palate now as well. Initially I rated this a few points lower, but I am enjoying this much more now. Give this a couple of hours to open if consuming now.

umami , honeysuckle and a distinct mushroom component-almost like a Loire chenin, but even more pronounced fungal component

5/5/2017 - msgrjosh Does not like this wine: flawed
Oxidized notes, burnt butter. Poor showing from an experienced winemaker.

Much better, last bottle must have been a bit off. Fuller body, integrated oak. Just an excellent bottle of Chardonnay.

Nice color that we expect from Wyncroft Chardonnays. Nose of apple and buttery oak. Will be interesting to taste these over the coming few years.

2015 Wyncroft Winery Visit (Michigan) (7 potentially 90+ wines with 1 classic 95 pointer); 8/29/2015-9/1/2015 (Wyncroft Winery, South Haven, Michigan): Tasted from bottle at the winery. First time I have had this wine. The Chardonnay vines in the Avonlea vineyard are old California clones from Robert Young and Mt. Eden. Light gold color. Creamy texture and rather opulent. Notes of butterscotch (which Jim thought tasted more like creme brulee), white pepper and poached peaches. I'm curious to see what Allred and TLV gave this wine as they prefer Chard much more than I do. 88 points.
