Det första som slår till är en doft av farmors svartvinbärssaft. Paletten är fint balanserad, pepprig cassis här. Bra barbera på sin sannolika topp. Håller dock minst 2 år till.

What a nice old Barbera d'asti! Dark brown colour. Smell and taste from an old forest with dark plums and warm dark fruit compott. Still some nice typical barbera acid in a long finish.

Mature blue-black forrest berries, concentration, obvious but smooth tannins, pepper. Those are the terms that to me describe this wine from La Spinetta, thus delivering quality as may be expected from this well known producer. The balance is slightly towards the sweet, but still the acidity is not absent.

This was perfect for a casual meal. On the heavy and low-acid side, it was very approachable and perfect to drink now and next year. Lacks complexity but lots of density - reminded me of a malbec lovers Barbera. Cheap and recommended. Perfect with pizza!

This is a serious Barbera. Medium to heavy, with more oak and tannin than we are used to tasting in the type. Having said that, it is a very good wine, more comparable to a Chianti Classico Reserva in density and complexity. So if the bright acidity, red fruit, and light weight of typical Barbera is what you are looking for, look elsewhere. For a wine to accompany hearty fare, it might be perfect.

First foray into barbera. A little musty on the nose, then little on the initial sip, followed by a fruit-laden midpalate and finish. Tasted a bit like an average Zinfandel. Not much complexity, but may develop further after a few more years. Drink now or hold.

A lovely wine. So much better than the 2011. Much more mature. Very smooth and round. Deep red with blue and black fruit on the nose. Lots of wood spice too. Fruit, oak and spice flavors as well. Nice long finish.

Blueberry, violet, dates. Tbere is a medicinal note starting to come through. Palate is intense...fairly green and astringent while also being ripe. Not sure if this bottle is in a weird place...but I'm not feeling it. Loved the 2011.

Bluered colour. Nose showing some vanilla oak, blueberries and leather. Palate shows a smooth fruity start and finishes off with austere oak tannins finish. Best 2017-2027.

Faded and not as vibrant as I would expect from a barbera.

Nice Barbera. Deep red, lots of tannins, and low acidity. Everyday wine, good with pasta.

Not a typical Barbers. Big, decent tannin and not a lot of acid. Nice wine but not typical of region

Farmför allt en väldigt tydlig smak av svartvinbär eller mörkabär, lagom taniner. Ett gott vin en söndagkväll med pasta. Gillade det.

At Osteria Tulia in Naples. Medium to full bodied with dark fruit flavors. Recommended by waiter, nice wine that I would revisit

Dark ruby red. Smokey fruit nose. Acidic yet slightly grippy finish. Some pepper which seems odd for a barbera. Nice bottle for the price.

Andrew's wine tastes better than mine so this one went down easy. Would buy for a weekend picnic.
