My previous bottle (opened mid 2020) was wonderful and right at peak, but tonight's was past its peak, clearly getting tired, even if marginally enjoyable. The rare 2014 1er Cru fading this quickly.

White Burgundies at Asia Grand: Brought for a friend. Wow this turned out to be the favourite on the night for most, including myself. Reductive nose that got more floral with orchard fruit after time in the glass. Excellent tension and balance between both citrus and tropical fruit, as well as hazelnut and saline notes. Haven’t had many Leroux whites but based on this they are well worth seeking out.

Yellow. Lemony aromas. Beautiful citrus flavors and acidity. Rounder, more glycerine, and less mineral than some other St. Aubin but well made and really very good.

Rich throughout with baked apple and lemon curd, coming across slightly richer than most 2014s. Good+ density as well. This is certainly right in the middle of its peak drinking window, and I'd err on drinking these on the younger side over the next few years.

Bright and lemony, with a clear acidic backbone. White flowers. Could easily guessed 1.cru Chablis with this nose, the stellar vintage shining through. Broader in mouthfeel though, and builds weight with air. Still very crisp and cool after 2. hours. Screw cap on this one, but this cannot mean that it should be drunk early. Will try my next one in a few years. Very good.

tiltalende og sammensatt duft av nøttene chardonnayfrukt med litt rancioaqktige toner à la Jura, fint sitrusinnslag, kamfer, mineraler, smør og fat. Fyldig anslag, deretter intenst syrlig midtparti, igjen fylde i finish. Sofistikert for appellasjonen. Litt usikker på hva som skjer med lagring, men her er det allerede mye å glede seg over.

Four 2014 Benjamin Leroux Whites (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Probably the best of the flight. Lemon and white flowers. Medium weight, outstanding texture balanced with precision, superb lemon fruit and thrilling, mouthwatering acidity. No obvious oak here. Excellent length. Top notch St. Aubin with promising future.

White Burgundy Dinner (Asia Grand): Blind. Pronounced aromas of blossom, flowers and minerals. Fully body with lot of tension and lingering finish.

this is amazing. unlike most Chardonnay's from this area. Its the bastard lovechild of Chablis and Puligny Monrachet

Second Sunday Group: Ridge Monte Bello 2005-2012 (Jeff's): Courtesy of Peter. Apple overtones with a nice lemon/citrus undertone. Bright and crisp, with nice acidity. Lemon, apple and stone flavors. Excellent. 92+ pts.
