Perhaps stating the obvious, this was an improvement over the ‘14 painted rock CS i recently had. Nose of ripe cherry, dark fruit and some cedar. On the palate the cherry note is prominent but sharp, and short. There is some heat still present and the tannins are pleasing. Had w tomato based pasta, which hid the alcohol and softened the tannin.

In a beautiful spot right now. (Much better than my recent ‘13 compendium) i doubt this will improve further. The last glass on day 2 was the best (even allowing for supratentorial influence) so id recommend a few hour decant.

MW Institute 2013 American Cabernet Tasting, nose of celery and veggies, touch hot, same on the palate, medium body, lacked fruit, OK tasting, short finish.

Institute of Masters of Wine - 2013 Cabernet Walk-Around Tasting (Hyatt, San Francisco): Unappetizing nose - vegetal without being identifiably pyrazinic. Ripe and flabby palate - lacking acid, alcohol is too high. Hot.
