Always a treat to open one of Harvy's wines. This Mouvedre was drinking well with fully integrated plummy fruit, but lacked a bit of the 'wow factor' that I get from some D&R offerings. I'd say drink in the near-term.

Now that we're having friends over again, I opened our first magnums in over a year. This was fantastic in large format. As if fun was liquefied...Crisp and energetic, lightly red fruited, fresh, delicious.

-- decanted one hour before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over a 2 to 3 hours --
NOSE: red-fruited and floral; "zesty"
BODY: light body.
TASTE: strong raspberry note; light oak; non-descript floral or powdery aspect; high acidity; very pleasant and light-on-its feet. Could be used in place of Pinot Noir for food-matching purposes.

Light to medium ruby red. Layered nose with rhubarb, branches, bramble berries, anise and minerality. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium bodied. Fresh palate with black bramble berries, crushed gravel, a little graphite and some spices. Even a hint creamy at the start of the long finish with great acidity carrying through. Drink till 2026.

In a great place right now. Light and lithe but with a lengthy well-structured finish, showing candied strawberry and blackberry, bramble, some french tarragon, and dusty minerality on the nose and palate both. Evolved nicely over a couple days to deepen and darken somewhat with more blackberry/bramble fruit and herbs.

Starting to come into its own with still fresh black fruit, and also serious spice and herb. There is the beginning of a leathery/gamey element on the palate - Mourvedre starting to stretch its varietal legs a bit? If this continues on the same path, it should be quite extraordinary in a couple more years. Lots of depth, so no worries about aging. Glad to have a magnum laying in wait. Perhaps five more years for that size bottle.

Plums, blackberry, earthy bramble with some kind of mineral zest?? this has really picked up some weight/depth since the last bottle I drank. This is quite nice now but I think it's best years are ahead.

More tertiary flavors coming in than the last bottle I had, with bramble to go with the bright plum, blackberry, and some orange on the finish. Unmistakably Californian but with an awesome freshness and acidity. Would love to forget about a few bottles for five years and see where it goes. It has the stuffing to last.

Maybe a touch shut down? This was very good, but not as expressive as it has been. It was still plummy and fresh, but not as vibrant. I'll let my other bottles sleep for a while.

-- decanted for less than one hour before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours on Day 1; tasted again on Day 4 --
NOSE: Day 1: tight; touch of sweet balsamic vinegar; raspberry; stony mineral. Day 4: no more sweet balsamic; earthy dark red fruits --- reserved.
BODY: medium-light bodied; garnet-violet color of medium depth.
TASTE: Day 1: red-fruited; medium tannin; typical D&R Mourvedre, ergo atypical Mourvedre; 13% alc. not noticeable; paired very well with steak & couscous; definitely improves with air; these d*mn D&Rs --- I just can't decide if I should keep buying or not --- they seem to occupy the same practical space as Gamay and Pinot Noir. Day 4: fuller, more typical Mourvedre flavor today; still with high acidity; hole in mid palate; dark red fruits.

Super clean fruit upfront. A pure, clean, cool expression of blue/dark fruit, with wisps of tartness on the back end. There's an herbal/umami aspect to the wine that makes it very drinkable. Weightless, yet it leaves a last impression on the palate. Keeps getting better. Terrific.

Nose: Open and savory nose with sour red cherries, black raspberries, purple florals, incense, herbs, and meaty notes.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium/high acidity and silky, but noticeable, tannins. The feel is polished, yet savory, with sour red cherries, black raspberries, herbs, purple florals, and a touch of meaty notes.
Overall: This was gorgeous even after an hour of air. Yes, it's young, but it's very open right now.

Damn...this wine is so spectacularly interesting that it made me want to tell everyone I can about it or just not say a word and horde all that I can. It opens light and juicy. Solid fruit, mineral and acidity. But that second sip is savory. The third more brambly. Then back to fruit again. Then herbal. A third of the way through the bottle it starts to build weight, more structure, more force, but then it morphs back to skipping over the ocean like a stone. And then it's gone and Lill and I just look at our empty glasses saying, Wow.

** Somehow I expected this to be a bit wild (Dirty & Rowdy?) but it wasn't at all, rather very nice and quite interesting. Definitely young, but very quaffable. Lighter than the (now defunct) Jade Mountain or Cline mourvèdre, but complemented roast lamb shoulder very nicely. Very good length and balance.

Excellent showing. This has the open, seductive D&R character but darker and with more mid-palate oomph than normal. Still young with room to improve.

Very light mouthfeel, nice balance of acid and fruit. Agree with other comments about similarities to other wines but with a pinch of D&R thrown in

Chocolate covered cherries, violets, lingering orange peel. This will get even better and deeper with a few more years.

It reminded me most of a cheaper Italian wine. Essentially I view this as a daily table wine at seven times the price....
