My last bottle of this vintage, with only a couple of 2000 M. Coz left. Whoa. Fruity, yet restrained nose of blackberry and anise, lovely. Great fruit, oodles of body, loads of character. This might just be the best wine I have tried by Mr. M. Cosentino, but I might need to verify the veracity of that statement thedrunekencyclist.com.
I last popped a bottle of this wine a couple of years ago, and I was impressed. Today? Once again, whoa. My last post is still à propos: "Blackberry, dried pine needles, tobacco, and ripe plum. Wowza. I have written endlessly about my fondness for the “original” iteration of Cosentino Winery (and my utter disdain for the current) and this is the perfect example why: finesse, strength, verve, sensuality. All in there. Bravo Mitch. Whoa." thedrunkencyclist.com

I decided to open this after a fairly big and complex Malbec, which was not the best decision I have ever made. After the first sip, though, this wine took over. Not in a boisterous, “look at me!” way, but rather, a more nuanced “psst…you might want to pay attention here.” Blackberry, dried pine needles, tobacco, and ripe plum. Wowza. Deep purple core with just a slight bricking around the edges. Aromas of cassis, black cherry, and spice give way to similar flavors of raspberry, black currant, and mocha on the palate. Plush and smooth, with medium length on the finish.

Nice big Cali blend with deep red fruit and a bit of oak. Tannins are fairly round making this wine approachable right now. Benefits from a few hours of decanting. Enjoy!!!

7/07 Tasted at a Friend's. Deep dark purple - concentrated dark cherry attack - chocolate oak smoked finish with pepper and spice - young yet approachable - blend of cab, nerlot and cab franc but had a syrah-like quality - finish will soten and round over 3-5 years. 90 pts.

Forgot to take notes! Overall impression as recalled was good, and wished I had one more to open. Tasted as well integrated as recalled.
