Inky ruby. Boysenberry, cedar, and spice nose. Full bodied, black cherries, dry tannins, some heat, pepper, blackberries, good acid and a long tangy finish. Maybe a little less fruit, but still going strong.

When I opened the bottle and took the first taste I thought perhaps my prior comments were not warranted and I had experienced a poor bottle. There were no flaws the wine was well preserved. As the bottle developed it receded to repeat the prior experience and my previous comments still stand. It’s unfortunate.

This '13 Cherry Ridge remains as dramatic as the day it was bottled. It looks like it has improved with age. Beautiful fruit, and many years ahead of it yet. Now suggesting 2030.

Some redeeming characteristics with a decent nose and colour. The customary Syrah aroma and fruit is evident at first taste and fills the tongue fulfilling an initial expectation. However, the fleeting balance quickly subsides to fruit and sweetness and a surprising lack of depth and length. Overall disappointing for a Syrah. Drinkable but certainly not a clone of true world class Syrah.

Blackberry, blueberry, boysenberry, white pepper, cedar, bacon, garrigue, fennel. Medium-plus body & acidity. Light-plus tannins. Medium-long finish. Quite smooth and easy to drink. Probably best now but no rush either.

Taste on the palate incongruent with aromas on the nose. Lovely cherry and stonefruits mix falls flat upon sipping. Drinkable but overpriced for what's in the bottle.

DG's Cherry Ridge Syrah is always a great wine to pair with a fine meal. In this case, we had brought it with friends to Drake's Sonoma Coast Kitchen in Bodega Bay. Enjoyed by all.

@ Dutton-Goldfield Winery. Beautiful colour, notes of cherry stood out for me. This is still quite young and should be kept a couple of years prior to drinking.

Deep purple. Beautiful nose of cassis, cedar and violets. Hints of strawberry, spice and pepper on the palate. Finish is disappointing - dominated by acidity. The tannins are reasonably integrated but still evident - this may improve with another couple of years in the bottle.

This syrah really comes together so perfectly. It has a deep rich red color and a concentrated richness of cherries and spice with a pleasing woodiness. It’s lush on the palate, with a splendid balance of rich fruit and soft tannins. Here’s a wine that can be consumed now with rich grilled meats, pasta with meat sauces etc etc. I just enjoyed a glassful, but you ought to age some for a few years

Typical Dutton goldfield. Delicious. Well structured and plenty of fruit. Will last a good while longer.

D-G's Cherry Ridge Syrah continues to be an exceptional choice; we have half a case in stock and will keep some of these bottles for several years.
