Deep ruby red with tawny tinge, dark black cherry aromas, smoky leather notes in the bouquet, creamy, velvety texture, black cherry and fig flavor with toasted oak and vanilla developing midpalate finishing with robust dark chocolate tannins that linger in a full bodied finish. Is my “go to” Cab when I see it, has not disappointed me.

Aromas of undergrowth, mushrooms, eucalyptus and soft balsamic notes. Full, rich and structured. Fine tannins that are still present...umami. Flavours of sweet dark fruit, leather, spices...vanilla, and light cedar. Long finish with a hint of bitter dark chocolate. Delicious! Not having peaked yet...2-5 years? 93+

Incredible Cabernet Sauvignon from Torres. Deep structure with firm but approachable tannins which will continue to develop for perhaps another decade yet. Blackcurrent, plum, earthy minerals, oak, leather, cassis. What can find that is missing. I love this one!

Lots of wood in this elixir, but very tastefully done, with sweet dense tannins swirling with blackberry compote and vanilla bean. Love that the fruit is ripe but not even a touch overripe. Great wine, definitely on the young side, really needs at least 5 more years to soften up. Not a terrific value, but I'd buy more at the right price.

Något yppigare än förlagorna från Bordeaux. Inte mycket av svarta vinbären och nyvässade blyertspennorna mer björnbär, kanske något blåbär och ett blått plommon. Tydliga men sammetsmjuka tanniner. Klassigt. Gott till lammbogen men klarar sig galant på egen hand.

I agree with AndreiKL's TN - needs min. 2hr decant but one is well rewarded for the wait. In fact, have a taste at opening and then see and savour how this evolves a couple of hours later. There is a savoury, brandied-cassis core to this wine that is balanced well with the oak spice and acidity. Medium-plus finish. Would buy again. Thanks RR for the gift.
As always, James Suckling is 5 points off with this wine. Nice wine, very classic but lacking the excitment factor to make thi a buy. At $60, this is probably $25-30 to expensive... I’m missing the complexity and the excitment I had with the early 1980s vintages. Drink now or cellar for another 5/7 years.
Had not drunk this label for some time, on first taste it was everything wonderful that I remembered, an almost thick fruitbomb with a smoky edge to it and spices almost hidden away. However there was a slight disappointment, it all seemed to fade away so quickly on the palate. That said, I will try not to leave it so long before our next bottle.

Deep, dark purple, full bodied Syrupy, jammy dark fruit nose. Vanilla, all spice, meaty hints Dry, nice acidity, more subtle than the nose would indicate. Still thick, with a medium plus finish. Better as a game pairing wine. It may settle down over the next five years and be worthy of another point. Right now, and easy wine to open for guests who like 'big' wines with less finesse.

Foreword: MLP was one of my faves about 10 years ago when I first got into loving wine. A decade later and I’m less of a fan, not sure if this 2012 is different than my first go with a 2000 or if my taste buds have changed. Regardless, it’s a very nice wine that is showing well in this rather ‘youthy’ stage and can age very well for many more years. The nose shows a tone of cherries along with some caramel and maple syrup like scents. The taste has fruit but it feels hot and overpowering at this stage, even after being opened for over an hour. Interested to see how it will be tomorrow on night 2. Overall a lot of finesse which led me to a rating above 90. Should pair well with different dishes though I suggest a meaty dish.

With a nose of heavy sweet oak, licorice, sweet blackberries and caramel the wine epitomizes the notion of "over ripeness and heat". Same is true of the palate. The tannins, although ripe, feel sort of astringent as does the acidity. Clearly, NOT my style of Cabernet Sauvignon. At the same time this must be a good wine for some tastes which is why I can't give it any less than 89.
Ps: interestingly enough the area of Penedes is quite similar to Napa Valley both in terms of GDD and Huglin, however the end result does in no way remind of its American counterpart.

DIscover VINO - Fine wines corner; 5/11/2018-5/12/2018 (Sofia): Needed a lot of time to reveal its pedigree. Bursting with CS typicity with a little twist from Torres this wine is so savory and precise with that feeling of tannins that are solid but reallly accesible now with a bit of air.

While I enjoyed this, I find my notes keep referring to "nice" - which suggests rather less character than one would wish in a wine of this pedigree.
International style on an old world base, blackberries dominate the nose with only a hint of cedar, as the palate is awash with soft black fruit and nice acidity. Technically more than sound

The flagship Cabernet of Torres from the 100 ha Mas La Plana vineyard (of which 29 hectares / 73 acres are dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon). Annual production 80-100,000 bottles. 14,5% alcohol, 5,5 g/l acidity. Tasted blind in VV.
Concentrated, opaque black cherry color. Somewhat understated, even slightly mute nose with vague aromas of sunny dark fruits, ripe blackcurrants, some exotic spice, a little bit of sweet and toasty oak, light liquorice character and a touch of developed dark fruit. The wine feels very juicy, ripe and round on the palate with full body and supple flavors of raspberry jam, some cherry marmalade, a little bit of blueberry juice, light oaky chocolate character, a hint of succulent blackcurrant character and a touch of developed dried dark fruit character. The wine feels like it is medium in acidity with modest to medium tannins that slowly pile up, becoming firmer and grippier. Still, the wine feels like it is quite flabby, lacking in structure. The high alcohol makes the wine feel quite hot. The finish is very warm with sweet-fruited flavors of blueberry jam, very ripe blackberries, some toasty oak spice, a little bit of black cherries and a hint of sweet mocha.
A decent Cab that in the end feels just too ripe, round and soft in style. The alcohol pushes quite much through and I'm not entirely sure whether the wine is starting to show some developed character (already?) or if the wine is showing some dried-fruit characteristics from the warm vintage. Normally Mas La Plana seems like a wine that needs a lot of age before it starts to show its best, but this is so soft and plush in style I'm beginning to doubt whether the wine will live long enough to ever peak from here. Not really a vintage for my taste, feels very overpriced for the style at 54,90€.
