Wonderful mature Ladoix, characterised by lucid bricking, muted earth undertone and juicy acidity, the fruit barely pushing through but present. Savoury. The 2017 is perhaps better, fresher, but this is hard to beat when paired with roasted duck leg given the almost sturdy finish. Joyous vfm but drink up now.

Gentle, savoury, unassuming, endearing. The structure is surprisingly pert, light and absolutely precise. There is an honest earthiness that underpins this wine and gives it tremendous character. Ladoix....who knew?

Coravin tasting. Blind against an excellent 2015 oaked pinot noir from the Mosel in Luxembourg (I guessed them wrong, thinking this was the Luxembourg wine!) Nose seems more volatile, balsamic like, shyer than other, hardly nothing now. Not as intense or classy on the palate. Nice tannin, oak on the finish. No noticeable fruit. 2nd taste: A little better now. Winey on the finish. This is very reticent. Mouthfeel not as good as the other wine. Quite tannic on 3rd sip. Very shy. May just need time.

Coravin tasting. Very good. Young and tannic. Lovely nose but still a little reticent. Ok the palate some classy oak but maybe a little too much oak and almond flavours from the oak right now. Needs a few years to integrate. Very good and good value in a Burgundy context.

Brick red; savoury, soft earth notes, coffee bean; dry, earthy, lean, lively acidity & crunchy red fruits, lightweight, yet decent depth & finish. Drink soon.
