Great nose consisting of black pepper, cherries, mint, cedar and tobacco. Wonderful layers of ripe figs, bing cherries, figs, blueberries, mint and cassis.

Very smooth with a long finish. Fresh Spring Mountain fruit with loads of dark fruit and a touch of sweetness. Not sure this wine will improve much going forward, but a most enjoyable wine. Over the years I have tried many different Sherwin vintages and I’ve come to the conclusion that the wine doesn’t improve much after 7-8 years from bottling.

TXRDW nailed the notes though I had it scored one point lower than he did. A great bottle and sad to say it was my last of this vintage. Looking forward to trying the 2005 and 2010 I still have left before moving into more recent vintages
My first of the '12's. Did not have the oomph (is that wine tasting term?) of the 07', '08 and '09's which were among my favs to date. Still delicious though.
This wine is now in its optimal drinking window. Much softer and smoother than last time I tried this wine. The tannins are starting to mellow and the fresh Spring Mountain fruit, highlighted by distinctive cherry notes, is really starting to shine. Definitely a wine that needs some time to open up, this is refreshingly smooth especially after several hours.

Opened for 1 hour, delicious layers of deep fruit, great finish, can only get better with time; perfect match with homemade pasta bolognese. The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), raisin, black pepper and stoniness. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Decanted for 2 hours. Very strong but pleasant aroma. Classic Spring Mountain fruit. Powerful layers of cherry, blueberry, pomegranate mixed with slight earth notes and a hint of sweet vanilla found in a medium to long finish. Heavy tannins, still a little ripe and concentrated. Should improve over the next few years. Highly recommend several hours of decanting as this wine significantly improved over the final few glasses.

Fantastic wine from the Sherwin’s. In a perfect spot, decanted an hour. Spicy, smooth, cherries. Great wine with grilled ribeye. Wish I had more.

Drank alongside a Sherwin 2007 which was far better. This is still nice. Just not as big or as dark or as bold.
