De Merlot in de grotere vaten, de Cabernet The wine is aged in 40% new, French oak barrels for between 12 to 16 months. After barrel aging, the wine is placed back into vat for an additional 4 months of aging with the goal of reducing the effects of too much new oak.

  • Decated 1/2 hour and tasted, initially quite primarily, with loads of typical Bordeaux minerals, as in cedar and graphite. After 2 or so hours in the decanter the fruit came to play, tremendous amounts of cherry, red plum, currants and cassis, great structure, firm acidity and sweet soft tannins. Based on this bottle, it should drink well and possibly improve for at least a decade.

  • Quite dark, saturated ruby/black. Modest nose at first. A bit of charred wood and dark, brooding fruits. Full-bodied with an excellent texture! This just glides across the palate with flavors of wood pencil lead, sweet blackberry fruit and a bit of spice and minerals. Will come back to it in a few hours.
Later: Much more aromatic with aromas of roasting black walnuts, coffee bean and dark chocolate. The palate is super supple, with a voluptuous texture. This is loaded with sweet, blackberry fruit some French roast coffee and dark chocolate as well as charred earth. This is serious stuff. Fantastic now with some air, this should be beautiful for the next 10-ish years. Drink now-2030 93

  • Young but very approachable now. It even has some of the dusty/ashy notes typical of the appellation. Nose of dark fruits, supple and round on the palate, not very extracted but feels robust enough. Medium acidity, and solid structure. I'd lay this down 3 to 5 years to gain some complexity and start drinking from that point. 2021 onwards...

  • Better in bottle than in barrel, you find licorice, plums and flowers quickly here. Medium bodied, with soft textures, the ends with a nice, fruity finish. Give this just a year or two of aging before consumption. The wine was produced from a blend of 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc.

  • With plum, licorice and floral scents, this wine is medium bodied, ending with fresh, black cherries and a surprise twist -- a hint of mocha. Give this just a year or two of aging before consumption. The wine was produced from a blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. 88 - 90 Pts
