Medium/full bodied, elegantly restrained, yet ripe, fruity and fresh. Forward, soft in texture and with ample, spicy, sweet, ripe, deep red fruits in the finish.

Tasting Group Holiday Party (Grange, Mouton, Schrader, de Capo and more) (Trent's): This was opened and allowed to breathe for 60 hours prior to serving. Yes, 2.5 days. It certainly handled that and more would have been ok. Its our wine and I won't comment much on this other than to say I don't think it embarrassed itself even in this stellar company. But it is young and in need of serious air or cellar time IMO.

Drank with family at thanksgiving weekend. Only had a chance to open for a few hours and definitely this needs a longer breath of air at this age. Pretty tannic. Then decanted a few times which really opened up the glimmer of the Persona we met when i opened my first bottle. This is still a big and complex wine but for a few years take the time to let it oxidize a bit... worth the wait.

Opened my first bottle Sunday with a friend that went in with me to purchase a few cases. Aired for about 8 hours prior to tasting in bottle. The high rating is not hype, this is fantastic. This is very approachable with a little air even at this young age. The nose hits strong with dark fruit, black raspberry and some cherry. Then there is some herbal quality: violet primarily, I maybe get a little of the smokiness also, we just tasted with some bread and no food, I think food will really bring the complexity. The taste also brings initially the dark fruit, at this stage just a little tannin and some acid that will mean it will age well and cannot wait to see how this does in a few years. I did buy some extra for family and friends in case others wanted to buy a bit from me, but now am hoping that they do not want any (I know quite selfish of me). Planning the annual Duck Cassoulet party for the students and residents this year, I cannot wait to see how this. Pairs with that, thinking it will be a grand slam!

Trying this a bit on the early side so I opened and let slow ox for 5 hours, then decanted for 90 minutes, then drank it over the evening. Blackberries and a hint of bacon on the nose, brilliant dark fruit on the palate with some creme de cassis. Smooth finish. Some heat initially that is dissipating now in the 2nd hour of decant. Lovely wine. Later on------This is a BIG Syrah. Went well with a steak and is still opening up. IMO this wine will improve with a few years of cellar time. I'll try to wait another year for my next bottle. For now I say 94 but it will only get better from here

So fresh on the heels of our 96 WA score, I decided to revisit this wine over 5 days. It was at its best on night 4. The wine was recorked and kept on my kitchen counter during that time. Lots of black raspberry fruit. Some tannins. There is an upfront approach-ability to the wine but with time a deeper purple fruit emerges. To be honest, this wine should much more depth and stayed fresher than i originally thought it might. Hopefully, I can track one more bottle before our October release.

An eclectic group of wines with friends (Walden): Our first time trying this since bottling. It is the most accessible Persona we have made so far. Nice upfront fruit. Deep but I would guess the complexity will come out more with time. It is very different, but we all agreed that it was very enjoyable. Won't be released until next fall, so I will have a chance to revisit this a few times before then to get a better handle on it.
