A really nice alternative to a Sauterne, with much less sugar and an unique spiciness. Apple, pear, and apricot on the nose and on the tongue. Extremely well balanced. Lovely spices evolve through the finish including a little sting from hints of pepper, ginger, and lemon.

64/29/7 Semillon/Sauv Blanc/Muscadelle. Lovely nose, complex palate but a little sugary for my tastes, without underneath development. Good wine overall.

Morlet: A late harvest that does what it can to avoid becoming too clumsy or cloying. It’s rich and viscous, but never heavy. Ripe, sweet peach, nectarine, and dried apricot make up the lion-share of flavors here. Some lemon oil and honey touch down as well mid-palate. Finishes fairly clean, with enough verve to maintain a sense of push for the saturated essences making up the overall profile. 94 points.

Tastings; 9/19/2019-9/20/2019 (Napa): An intense nose of apricots, honey, apple, and almonds. Full bodied with impressive structure, but not overly syrupy. This is drinking well now and should continue to do so over the next couple decades. Tasted at the Morlet winery.

Morlet tasting (Saint Helena): Apricot and honey dominate the profile here. Pleasantly viscous without coming off heavy or syrupy. A nice combination of mid-palate density/concentration and speed. A succulent and semi-chewy finish.
Bust out a stinky wheel of Epoisses cheese and have a grand ‘ol time with this Billet Doux!
