a good wine but not (no longer) to my taste: too oaky, too alcoholic, too clunkorama. might as well be australian . . . . (i opened it up after consuming the 4-day-old dregs of a nice cab franc from the loire and boy did i miss the cool clime . . . )

Just as an educational note, after opening this Saturday night and finDIng it way too oaky, I left (inadvertently) half the bottle uncorked over night, corking it Sunday midday. Tried the wine again Monday night and now it's a pleasure to drink. Very little aromatics but great pure fruit without being too sweet. Very tasty now, go figure.

Nero d'Avola, Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah blend. Rustic style, more so than its 2000 vintage. Concentrated flavors - blackberry and black cherry with ok spice. Good acidity. Moderate length. Better with food. Finished almost a case over a year with consistent notes.

Big Juicy Lush Fruit. Jammy Blackberries, Plums, Dates (!) among others Some pronounced oak in here, but the Fruit is so generous and plump on this night I had no worries.

I guess I couldn't wait to try it again. And this bottle was even better. It was deep and round. Had decent fruit, but also a maple syrup aroma. I can't stop thinking about its depth

Just like the 2000, this tastes like a great shiraz. Fruit, with some pepper, and bit. Could use a little more time. By memory, not quite as much fruit forward as the 2000, but still good.

Nardone Family
Served too warm - wood too pronounced.
Cooked, stewed, overwhelming wood.
Serving temp critical
