Did a comparison between this and Stellenrust Timeless 2014. People were divided, this merlot led and timeless cab led. So some people preferred the more dominant flavour of the timeless. Personally I preferred the Merriman
BUT having said that this is a wonderful wine :)

Reductive style, black and blue fruits, liquorish, balsamic, hint of wet leaves, quince, dried apple, chocolate and coffee, pencil. Elegant, quite un-Stellenbosch in a positive way, balanced with fine tannins and medium acidity. Very clean and graceful. Long lingering finish. Love it, wish I had few more bottles for further aging...

Dark ruby or auburn in presentation. Black fruit, prunes, tobacco, and notes of ripe figs and earth. After the first tasting 3 years ago (when this vintage was only 2 years old) this wine has matured beautifully. Medium bodied, elegant and almost smooth at the start with mellow fruits followed by beautifully integrated and puckering tannins and a long, lingering finish. Still shows good acidity for cellaring for many years to come.

Deep ruby, intense. Bouquet of raspberry with some dark fruit. Hint of vanilla and cedar and clove. Dry wine, acidity medium +, smooth tannins, good body, alcohol medium, super long berry aftertaste. Couldn’t really detect too many tertiary flavours. This is a very good wine. Drinking perfectly now.

Dark cherry red with ripe aromas of red plum, red cherries, green bell peppers, vanilla, cedar as well as leather. Powerful and full bodied with a clear and present acidity. Great value.

Aromatic, currant, smoke, cocoa, dried berry and hickory nose. Dry and focused with distinct flavours and very good balance; long, smoky currant finish. 4/5

Retailer-tasting. The wine was dark ruby, close to garnet in colour. It offered ripe fruit, plum, orange, caramel, oak, spice, vanilla and vegetal notes on the nose. On the palate, the wine showed ripe fruit, orange, plum, black currant, oak, oak spice and vegetal notes, with dry, chewy tannin and good length. The wine needs time to integrate the oak and resolve the tannin. Start drinking from 2025.

Bought for 190 Rand (about $13.60 US) last week in a local supermarket (best SA WSr Pro is 180 Rand; when I see it in the US, it's at least double that). Decanted for 3 hours. Good dark purple color, fruit-leaning Bordeaux nose, good mouthfeel. This is young and at least 2-3 years of bottle age to improve. This was our second bottle over four days, and we have one more that we'll save for a while. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

Much better after an hour or so in the decanter. I’d leave this for 2-3 years at least.

Blackcurrant, cassis, black cherry and spice. Easy drinking Bordeaux blend which has enough structure to cellar for 10 years or more.
