Just entering into its drining window. Austere chianti riserva with little roundness, more a food wine at this moment. Some acidity left, assuring a long lofe ahead. Undebrush and pencil. Little emotions, though and limited pleasantness

New Year’s Eve and not for the first time it is Italian. One does wonder if this has passed its best but there is still a degree of majesty. The tannins have declined and it does lack a tad of depth. Nevertheless a fine wine

Paired this CCGS yesterday with my homemade pizza. First time trying this producer. A very savory wine, Tart dried cherry, tobacco, earthy notes, dried herbs, strawberry.

Took some time to open up and shake the bitterness that initially plagued it. It opened up to a fairly classically styled chianti that is well put together, but never excellent. Not recommended at current vintage prices (+40 €)

Some bricking on the edge suggests this wine has reached its plateau and indeed perhaps needs drinking over the next year or so. The nose is still cherry dominant but this did not really follow through to the palate. This Chianti is medium-bodied and well-balanced. Sufficient acidity keeps the wine fresh and vibrant and the tannins are either minimal or well-integrated. As a “Gran Selezione” I would not say this wine wowed us but it is well made and pleasurable with duck.

Decanted for a few hours. When trying it immediately: ruby color, nose was nice mix of cherries and flower bouquet; taste was a little chewy, cherry, soil, little tar; VERY dry
After the decant: it mellowed a bit but flavor levels never materialized. Still red fruit with some florals and earth. But mostly one note.

Needs a bit more time... Arômes balsamiques...cèdre, boîte à épices, caoutchouc brulé. Son fruit est discret. Souple avec des tannins fins bien intégrés. Finale moyenne à longue sur des notes de griottes. Excellent potentiel. Prochaine bouteille dans 1-2 ans. 90-

Light in colour, soft and elegant on the nose. Cherries, florals, spice, an earthiness distinctly Tuscan. Acidity is quite high and tannins mellow. Really nice and in a good place right now.

Young Market Tasting Prior to Tre B: Elegant and lovely a super Chianti but at $50 plus it has competition. Definitely loved it but ... Ready to drink, fully developed and maybe 3-5 years of prime left.

Amazing nose full of dark berries, some violets, hints of leather and tobacco. Very refined and elegant on the palate with beautiful fine tannins, precise acidity and quite complex fruitiness. Of course still quite primary, this has the potential for at least 1-2 more points in the future. Mi piace molto!

Dark Ruby, clear. Nose of cherry, sandalwood, roses, leather. Smooth on palate, tannins very subtle and in background. Soft fruit, sour cherry, spice, wood. Decent Chianti, went well with truffle, goose salami and pecorino cheese pizza at Bussola’s Florence Italy.

Somehow not quite as good as the bottle we drank in Florence (isn’t that always the way) but still a very good Chianti with plenty of life in it to go.

Aromatic, red berry, rose blossom and mineral with a whiff of petrol and ironed linens on the nose. Flavourful, med-bodied palate with good tannic support. Elegant and distinct, with a fresh, complex finish. 4/5

I love the 2011, so was really disappointed when this one wasn’t good. Must be past it’s prime - tinny, flat, and kind of wet-basementy. Bummer.

A beautiful Chianti GS with all the typical aromas and flavors of a great Chianti. Avoid to serve it “byxvarm”

Maturing nicely. Definite hint of morello cherry but not too dominant and with a good length to the finish
