  • Cabernet theme session at Goldhill. Tasted semi-blind. Drank in Grassl 1855.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of coconut, vanilla oak, licorice, black cherries, blackcurrant. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour, with flavours of grilled herbs, vanilla oak, black licorice, black cherries, blackcurrant leaf and more sweet blackcurrant with more air, cassis, blackberries. Long finish.
Very good quality. Ripe Cabernet Sauvignon with a generous amount of oak. Oak can still integrate further. I poured this through Vinturi and then double decanted back into bottle 3 hours before the tasting.
75% Eden Valley and 25% Barossa Valley grapes.
