Pnp. A wine dominated by balsamic notes, herbs, earth, medicinal notes. Fine to medium tannins but not sure how far the remaining fruit can still carry this. Drink up

Auction purchase. This was advertised as Canalicchio di Sopra but it is not. This is Canalicchio Brunello di Montalcino which is a different estate altogether, even though it’s located in Canalicchio di Sopra in Tuscany. To make things more confusing, this estate is owned by Franco Pacenti. Franco is not Siro’s brother, not sure if they are cousins, perhaps somebody knows. Long story short, this is drinking very well right now. Plenty of herbs, good acidity, tannins integrated, no sign of oxidation, medium finish. “Middle of the road” style, neither really modern nor truly classic. At peak - enjoy now PS: lovely classic label

Drinking very well now. Good at opening, but after 2 hours was more full, better dark fruit and more chewy. Likely a few good years ahead for this wine.

Granato carico, unghia aranciata. Naso mix di terra , ciliegia sotto spirito, pepe bianco e alloro. Bocca calda, fresca e succosa, finale medio lungo terroso. Pronto per essere bevuto

Terroir a Confronto: Brunello & Barolo 2001 (Alba, Italy): Dark garnet core, paler garnet rim. Nothing much to start ; opened up with small red fruits and licorice notes. High alcohol, high acidity, ripe/smooth tannins. Medium body, moderate complexity and length.

From a 375ml bottle. This wine was singing with ripe dark fruits and wonderful rustic earthy component that I find a perfect match Italian food. Bravo.

Had a bottle at a restaurant; this is drinking very nicely. Tannins are well integrated, high alcohol content is obvious but not intrusive. Very smooth.

Great traditional Brunello. Quite tannic at first. More open and polished after some time in the decanter. Generous, but lacks a bit of concentration.

Wonderful leather, light blackberry fruit, with a hint of cream. Just delicious. Nice tannins, easy drinking now, but drank from half bottle...

It showed better than the last bottle, but I will wait another 2 or so years to try again.

Smooth and silky, with an intense core of cherry and some hints of black licorice. Nice wine and a very good deal at $35.
