Decanted off sediment, took about 30-45 minutes to open more fully. Smelled bacon fat, blackberry, leather; tasted a reprise plus some nice black pepper. Soft but full bodied, resolved and drinking well. Finishes medium-plus and fruity fading to the bacon. Drink now.

Dried violets, dried raspberry, chocolate covered cherry, blueberry pie, baking spice, barrel smoke, blackberry, and dried vanilla. Lots of fruit on the palate still, good acid.

Lots of blue fruits, blackberry, definitely dried violet, dried vanilla bean, earth, and some black pepper. You get little hints of blueberry pie, smoke, and roasted meat popping through. Structure and acidity are in fantastic harmony with the fruit right now.

Toast, big and relatively low acid compared to many others. It does remind me of syrah on the nose, though the palate is big and hot on the finish. Some bitterness as well. Heavy extraction, big ripeness, the terroir might be saving the day here.

This had good flavor upon opening and really blossomed after about a hour. Lots of fruit forward balanced with pepper and a touch of acid. Lovely!
