In Vino Veritas (in wine there is truth; people speak the truth when they are drunk), bottle #141 of my cellar sacrifices. Another 2014 Petite Sirah from Girard. Aside from being by favorite varietal, this wine was still young for tasting. It was a beautiful purpleish hue, as all Petite Sirahs are, but it was more than a mouthful. The finish lingered and lingered! I keep telling myself that I should probably wait longer to drink them, but I find it hard to pass up a good Petite Sirah!🍷🍷👍 👍 #wine #winelover #winelovers #girard #petitesirah #petitesyrah #napawine #napa #napavalley

It is ready to drink, but I think it will last much longer. Drank1/2 bottle one day and the second half the next day. It was softer more deep dark fruit concentration. A wonderful wine for a good price

I had three of these but only got to drink one (long story). For those who have waited, patience is paying off. On opening this has good tannins, flavors of tobacco, coffee and dark fruit. On day #2, it softened considerably and the fruit was more prominent. It’s ready to drink but no need to hurry.

Decanted 1 hr but think would've tasted even better if longer or even next day. Chocolate, coffee notes. Tannins softened up as it decanted longer. Perfect steak pairing.

Intense smoky dark fruits with a hint of spice. Fantastic value. Petite syrah always more interesting than syrah. At the same price point, much better than Madrigal.

This is one of those wines that exceeds expectations. I’m not good at descriptors and in blind tasting I felt the the color looked like a Syrah but drank like a cab. For $17 I wish I had bought more. Terrific qpr

This wine's fruit is somewhat muted and lacks richness. The 2013 vintage is much better. There is a bit of a vegetable taste to it as if the grape were picked to early and were green. I don't think aging will help.

Decanted extensively, as early in the drink window. Not as inky as a usual Petite Sirah, more like a dark cab in color. Nose of pipe tobacco and pencil lead. Easy entry, no hard edges even this young. Mid palate menthol and tart plums. Great mouth feel on the finish. I really like Girard, and have been a fan for years. Hit a bump in the road with their 2014 Zin (overwhelming gycerin taste), but glad for this bounce back effort.

A very nice petit Syrah. Rich fruity and lush and much dark berry. Very little tannins and velvety. Deep opaque inkish redI would do it again.

Amazing. Black fruit, jam, touch of spice. Smooth and silky. Just an enjoyable wine. I cried when I finished the bottle.
