I fully agree with the "oak bomb" comment. This wine was not drinkable. We poured it out even after giving it hours to improve with air. (It was stored at 55 degrees in my cellar since the day it was purchased.) What a waste. Unfortunately, I have another bottle.
The ironic thing is the day after I poured it out, D-G sent an email which stated "Life is too short to drink bad wine". I agree. This wine never should have been sold. How about a refund?

PnP at The Matheson. Seemed closed in and now seeing my note from 18 months ago, I think it just needs some extra time to open up. Hopefully, I will review my previous notes before opening my final bottle.

Oak bomb. Oaked to hell and back. Probably decent underlying material (we started catching some fruit after a couple hours of air), but this didn’t even taste like a wine, let alone a pinot, it tasted like licking an oak tree. It gets above an 80 just because someone clearly tried to make something here and it did show okay after a lot of air, but geez.
Seemed a bit awkward the first night. Corked it up and was much better on the second night. Lots of fruit and flavors; needs time to open up and show its stuff. Still has a lot left.

This needs a little more time. The acidity is a bit bracing. Nice fruit - mainly raspberry with a little cherry. Some bramble, smoke, oak, baking spice. Nice body, texture, finish (though tart). Should be better in another year.

The D-G Freestone never disappoints and only gets better with time.

@ Dutton-Goldfield Winery, fruit forward, spicy. Good length but takes time to open up. Hold for a couple of years prior to opening

Drinking well now, will last several more years, however.
